I live in one of the most diverse cities in the world -san francisco- and I always see people date their own race. Asians date only asians, white americans date only white americans, mexicans date only mexicans, blacks date only blacks. When I go downtown and walk for hours I see hundreds of couples but I never see a couple made up of 2 people from different races. I never see a white and black dating, I never see a white girl with an asian guy, i never see a mexican girl with a white guy...etc. Why?

Well, I think it goes without saying that interacial dating does occur with some frequency, but there definately is a tendency for people to date within their own racial groups. It's probably due to two factors. First, people are raised to value and be attracted to aspects of their own culture and therefor when looking to find a partner, they are more likely to like people that share their values, which is likely someone from a similar racial background. Secondly, people may have a natural, biologically ingrained attraction to people from their own race since they've historically been matched together for thousands and thousands of years.

IDK I believe that anyone should be with whoever they want to be with...I don't think that color or race matters at all...I love and accept all people from different cultures and backgrounds...besides being racist is soooo stupid because if a person is an a$$hole they're an a$$hole no matter what skin color they happen to be...I don't see a real lot of mixed couples either and I think that it is sad because that shows that some are still so afraid of just accepting other people for who they are not how they look. Rest assured though that if you were to see me I wouldn't disappoint you...I have been with only white guys but that's because they were great guys...now I am in love though...true love with the greatest man God has put on the earth...he understands everything about me and loves everything about me too...and you know what he is Korean-American and I see no difference in him at all...because in his heart he is a wonderful human being and that's all that truly matters in this world.♥

I think it might be a question of being comfortable. We may cherish and admire the beauty or qualifications of everyone but a look of a girl or a guy actually makes a guy or girl comfortable to get along with. I have seen a lot of people mixing up with others without caring about the race. I a very close friend of mine get married with a russian girl, but I think the reason is they were both been comfortable with each other, which is hard to find in most people with different races.

People can say whatever they want, because they feel more comfortable, they look for them, etc. The truth is that since you are new in town the first ppl you get in touch are the familiar ones from you own country or race, after that is a vicious circle since you hang out with them it makes harder to meet ppl from other races, but if you get in a situation where you can meet them, like work or a school project you can start getting along.

Basically is not that they dont want to or any racist crap is just that usually the situation or circumstances never quite arrive to make it easier to meet people from other backgrounds.

Well, where I live I see interracial relationships and I in fact am the product of one. I think what it is,is that people just identify with the same race more easily. If one grows up in a one race community, they are just more likely to date the same race. Also, people of the same race more so have the same interests and likes rather than a partner of a different race. It's just familiarity.

I will date other races.
There is beauty in the person ,not the race .
You need to move out of San Francisco and see other cities.

How do you know that? Everyone has different preferences. Some date people who remind them of their homeland because maybe that gives them something in common. Some like other types of people. There is no way everyone in the world dates people of their own race. Just look at some of the stars: Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, etc. They are combinations of different types of people.

Move down to Los Angeles, that happens more often down here.
But most date people they are more comfortable with, and who they meet the most often.
If the bulk of the people you meet, are of your race, that's who you will end up dating.
In Los Angeles, we seem to be more open and often find the races mixed, at events. That way you meet others of different races.
Still there are those who won't date others from a different race, and sadly that's just a fact of life.
