Which is better on a date with a newly accquired girlfriend? Holding hands or having my arm around her?

holding hands for a start. this is sweet and shows you like her enough. arms around is more intimate

Holding hands denotes your desire to be with her and an appreciation
of her.
Having your arm around her might be seen as "possession". That is,
she is "mine" (that's over-reading a lot, but we're looking for differences
here, right?)
I can think of no other difference - however, I would hold hands before
putting your arm around her.

holding hands is great, in the courtship. when you get to know each other better and are past the intimate stage arms are good.

Holding hands....that way you can keep moving around...walking with your arm around her is awkward and uncomfortable...and looks dumb too.
