well, the body iron is mainly in many forms: one is bound to proteins circulating in the blood and the other is deposited in the body systems mainly liver and bone marrow where we need them the most (for making blood and other products). If your iron goes up it deposits into all body organs and leads to several bad conditions. heart , liver and pancreas are organs affected the most. remember that if somebody says that your iron is high you would ask which part of the iron (TIBC,FERRITIN, FREE IRON). I am saying this because you need to know if you have problems with iron metabolism or you are a case with iron overload secondary to other conditions. also you would ask how much the iron is high and if your body organs is affected with this overload.

It is called hemocromatosis and it can have a bad effect on your liver if it is not controlled. Make sure that you are in the care of a very good physician--a hemotologist would be an invaluable resource. (This condition can be controlled, but it needs good medical attention).
