I understand that there are many people in the United States oppose war, but if it were not for war, our nation would not even exist. I feel bad for the people who lose family members in Iraq, but I don't understand why people complain about all of the soldiers who are dying in Iraq. All of the troops we have in Iraq voluntarily joined the military knowing there was a possibility of going to war. It would be different if the troops had been drafted and sent to war against their own will, but those are not the circumstances. Plus, in comparison to the other wars we have been in, very few soldiers have lost their lives. I have heard people argue that they only joined the military to get an education, but if they were ignorant enough to not realize the possibility of going to war, perhaps that education won't be of much use anyway in the real world where they will have to use it. I don't mean to be disrespectful to any militants or their families, but that is my view. What do you think?

WELL SAID. i am ex military and i agree. it's a voluntary thing. just like the whole ordeal with cindy sheehan whose son died overseas and she's so distraught and so anti war now. HER SON decided to join! He wasn't drafted!!! If she wants to be mad at someone, she should be mad at him!
It's funny too that the media only portrays all this negativity. Soldiers keep reinlisting in the military KNOWING they are going to go to Iraq either for the first time or second (or more!!) they're doing this because they know the reason we're there.
There are so many ignorant people just sitting AT HOME watching TV thinking they have a good grasp of what is going on in another country. It's frustrating. I can only imagine how our presindent must feel.

The problem isn't that Americans oppose war for the right reasons. The war in Iraq simply wasn't started for the right reasons. Whether it was for oil, or (as I believe) as a ploy to raise Bush's diminishing approval ratings caused by his inability to find Bin Laden before the 2004 election. Those men and women who joined the military joined under the premise that their lives would only be risked if it were absolutely necessary. The war in Iraq was not, and so these brave men and women are being sent to fight and die for a country and a president that have misused their good intentions.

I don't think most people dislike soldiers

That's a myth perpetuated by republicans

The reason many people oppose the war is the fact that the iraq war is an unjust war.

Our soldiers are dying for what?

No WMD's
No Iraqi terrorists on 9/11
they were from saudi arabia
To implant freedom in the middle east is also a BS argument, otherwise we'd force our way of life on every country.
"They hate us" isn't a good reason for war

A pre emptive war would likely have been better spent on a country that actually has weapons and ideas to worry about, north korea

George Bush isn't the only one to blame, democrats fell for the false information too, but Bush led the crusade for war.

I was in the u.s. army

I am upset about the war in Iraq because 1.) It was founded on falsified information 2.) We were still fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, and still are 3.) Terrorism spreads more the longer we are there, and most importantly! 4.) We went to war to fight a war, but this time around it is full of politics and playing pattycake. We need to fight full-fledged, with all of our forces. Not to sound like an as*hole, but there are civilian casualties in any war. We need to just start bombing the f*ck out of them, rolling in tanks, helicopters, snipers, everything we have, even if it takes an atom bomb.

because the left became making use of those pictures for his or her political earnings. people ignore that the ban on those pictures became the end results of a tremendous outcry contained in the militia at the same time as the Democrats used the photographs of militia caskets in political commercials contained in the 1980's.

It really wasn't even our war to fight, and like the ego-maniac bush is, he has allowed our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers, into a war that should of been fought amongst the people themselves. America can not play the role of babysitter to everybody, nor should it.

There isn't one good reason for our brave, young heroes to be there. The invasion was setup on a foundation of lies. Our president knew it and still risked the lives of our brave young men. Bush should be prosecuted, not impeached.

The problem is that your president lied to you and no-one cares. Even people who approved of it now say they the costs are too high. The US have suffered 25,000 casulaties and god knows how much tax payers money. People in the UK are pissed, it should be 10 fold in the US................
