They should be at least 4 weeks old and have their first full set of teeth. You can move them on to moist food or moistened dry food for about 2 weeks, and then wean them off completely.

i breed English Springers and here's a suggestion. At about the time that they're running around the house on their own, take some of mom's puppy food (she should be on puppy food while lactating), and make a mush out if it in a blender, with a little milk. As the pups get used to eating it, every week for the next 4 weeks, shorten the blend time, leaving it more and more chunky. When you see them eating dry food from mom's dish and chewing it well, you're done. By then mom will stop letting them nurse, and you'll have a nice litter of weaned pups.

newborn puppies should be about 3-4 weeks of age before they should go on dry food. Just make sure you do it gradually because their systems are delicate. It can be puppy food. What makes the transition really easy is mixing some lukewarm milk with the dry food and letting it get a little soggy for the first couple of times, that way its not too hard and they will take it because it is in something that they are familiar with.

you can start lettin the puppies eat food at like 2 to 3 weeks old. what ever mom is eating make it into a soupy micture soft and very wet. It may take a few tries befor the will eat but keep it up..They should be weined from mom at about 6 to 8 weeks best of luck..I just went through this with my maltese puppies....

You can start feeding them a mush of softened dry puppy food at about 3 weeks. But it can take up to 9 weeks of age before they are totally weaned from mom's milk.

START offering water(in a SHALLOW SMALL BOWL-so they don't DROWN!) & mush at about 4 weeks. Offer feed while the dam is outside. They will NOT know how to lap & *WILL* make a mess & waste food.
DO NOT stop them nursing!!! For at least another*4* WEEKS!!!
