This is our original recipe.....
1 1/4 oz. Cuervo Gold or 1800
3/4 oz. Cointreau
3/4 oz. Grand Marnier
1 oz. Fresh Lime juice
3 oz. sweet & sour mix
Shake all ingredients over ice.
Strain into an ice-filled glass.
But since we have been living on our own, this is a "money conscious" version we came up with. Both are super good.
1 1/4 oz. Tequila
1 oz. simple syrup
3 oz. sweet & sour mix
1 oz. FRESH lime juice
1 1/2 oz. Triple Sec
Shake with ice & strain.
Your can make simple syrup by boiling equal parts sugar and water for about a minute uncovered. It will keep in the fridge for a couple weeks. It makes the drink soooo much better.
The link is where we got the original recipe.

It's easy, you have to remember 1-2-3
# 1 oz lemon or lime juice #2 oz of triple sec or cointreu # 3 oz of tequila
Now the recipe:
# 1 oz lemon or lime juice #2 oz of triple sec or cointreu # 3 oz of tequila
#2 tsp coarse salt #1 lime wedge # 1 cup crushed ice
Place salt in a saucer. Rub rim of a cocktail glass with lime wedge and dip glass into salt to coat rim thoroughly.
Pour the tequila, triple sec or cointreu and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker, half-filled with ice cubes. Shake vigorously. Strain into the cocktail glass and serve.
You could replace the cocktail glass with an old-fashion glass, to serve fille1/4 of the glass with ice, strain and serve.
