I'm not going to diss you or call you Hellbound or anything, I was raised Catholic and my family still is. I came away from Catholicism after reading the Bible myself. What I want to know is why many Catholics think Protestants follow Martin Luther? If Martin Luther never existed I still would have come away from Catholicism so how come most question from Catholics to Protestants seem to mention Luther?

Good question...

Martin Luther was one of the reformers (who initiated the Reformation).

I am a protestant because of what the Bible teaches, not because of what Luther taught (or didnt teach)...

Cordially,
John

vashsunglasses does not have her facts straight. Martin Luther did not remake the Bible to his own standards - the Catholic church did! They first changed the Bible (including the Ten Commandments) to fit their "needs" and then they just declared the Bible dead.

Martin Luther did a good work for the Protestant Reformation, but the only people who "follow" him are Lutherans.

I believe that MOST people KNOW this.

The Idol worshipers are still jealous of Ole Martin. No big. Catholicism is dwindling, even the Pope says that Popes no longer get revelation from God. The Cardinals make all the proclamations and the Pope is just a figurehead. But Yea, the first really big breakaway from the "Church of Constantine" was caused by M. Luther. Do they really say he never existed? Pretty spiffy job for an apparition.

Luther was among the very first Protestant heretics. He said that by "faith alone" man is saved which is one of the most grievous heresies ever spoken. He said that transubstantiation does not occur and that the holy priesthood should not exist. (The man was also frequently visited by Satan and obsessed with feces... just to point out how "stable" he was).

And what Bible did you read? It probably wasn't the Bible, but rather some heretical butchering of the Bible (KJV or some nonsense). The KJV was altered to support Protestantism and to omit entire books of the Bible which proved the Catholic Church.

And by the way, most modern "Catholics" are not Catholic and I wouldn't blame you for walking away from them. The english service is a blasphemy to Our Lord.

Before Martin Luther, people weren't confused about what it means to be Christian. Now since him, everyone thinks they can make up their own Christianity based on whatever confirms their personal lifestyle. This kind of thinking was rare before Martin Luther, and people who did this used to be called heretics.

Protestants either mistrust the bible, or they seem to believe that it fell out of the sky. This is because by divorcing themselves from the Catholic Church, they cut themselves off from ancient Christian apostalic tradition and from understanding the bible the way the apostles and early Christians did.

Since Martin Luther, Protestantism has divided Christianity to over 33,000 different versions of Jesus, but there can only be one true Jesus otherwise Christianity would be pointless.

That's a great question. The comments about Luther seem to be thrown at you because Luther found himself in the same predicument as you. When he started to read the bible for himself, he found that the catholic church was not teaching in accordance with the Word of God. I would venture to say that those who ridicule you have not read the bible. I am so glad to hear you have read yours.

Lord's blessings on your study.

I think Martin Luther's point was not to get a bunch of people to follow him, but to get a bunch of people to follow the Bible and stand up to the church.

Protestants do NOT follow Luther! They follow JESUS/THE GOD.

Catholics are the ones who have an earthly leader.

There were also the Anabaptists who never were under Constantine so did not have to REFORM.
Anabaptists were TrueChristians and simply remainded so.

I believe the issue was that the Church was making money from selling indulgences that forgave sin in exchange for money. This was the premise that created the rift. Luther didn't like it so he basically argued that Canon law was violated by the very people of whom were to keep it sacred and was correct in his arguments. That's the history for this chapter in the every splintering interpretation of Christianity.

Their mindset is off( I'm talking about the Catholics) they ask me "do you think your denomination is better than the original (Catholic church)?"

It is all about th church and works to them, they think that they can actually obtain salvation... But it is by God's grace( Jesus ) that anyone is saved...

They don't read the Bible, God's Word, they accept the popes or the priest or the bishops word instead...

They are following hollow and deseptive philosophy that is based on the human traditions of this world rather than on Christ- sproken about in the Bible...

God bless you, may God show them the Truth...
