I am of The Christian Faith... any one can call themself a "chritian" it is all the rage for some to do so... But that do'nt make them one... The "relationship" between God and His people is one-on-one and personal...it is indeed a relationship...of the highest order.

most all of the "bad things" you might list as being done by "christians" were not... They were in direct oposition to the teaching of Jesus The Christ...... that is a long history study...there have been thousands more times ... things done in the name of all the other "religions" why do'nt you list those as well

The Christian Faith can not be spread at the point of the sword... look at history to see what has happened every time some so-called "christian has tried it... God has caused it to fail and the offenders have been slaped down hard... the crusades for example.... Then look at how islam was spread and is enforced.

look at all the death and distruction from the "peacfull" budist countries... and on and on andonandon....man invented religion is all of what you claim is just "christian""bad things".... And the Christian Faith is not man invented religion to begin with...and the True Christian Faith still is not "religion.

Honey, religion is, by definition, a relationship. Since God is huge and amazing, one way in which we relate to him is through worship. We also relate to him through prayer, study, and meditation.

I get the impression that you are very angry with Christianity, and also that you don't understand it very well.
For example:
"Are they too ashamed to call themselves christians anymore because of all the bad things christians have done over the centuries so they whould rather change the wordings"

No Xtian "changes the wording" by saying they have a relationship with God. That relationship is in all religions - the Jews also have a relationship with God, as do Muslims. And saying that you have a relationship with God isn't a replacement for calling yourself a Christian. Personally I don't know anyone who says they have a relationship with Jesus, but refuses to identify him/herself as Christian. That would be pretty dumb...

"all the bad things christians have done over the centuries"

All people, all over the world, have done bad things over the centuries. Sometimes, they do these things in the name of religion - whatever their religion may be. That is not God's fault, but the fault of people who are hungry for power and vengeance.

I suggest you ask God to show himself to you. If you ask, he will show himself in a way that you understand. Perhaps you should try finding a Christian in your area to talk through your questions?

1) A religion is about doing something to become right with God (be righteous in God's sight). But that's impossible, and every real Christian knows that. The only way to God is through Jesus (John 14:6).
See, a religion is about what WE can do to make us right with God. Christianity is about what Jesus HAS ALREADY DONE to make us right with God.
Therefore, if your goal is to get to Heaven, then being in a "religion" is literally pointless because the only way to God is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

2) No, I'm not ashamed to be called a "Christian". It's just that the term "Christian" has become so generic, to the point where anybody who believes in God or who went to church maybe once or twice in their lives claims to be a Christian, even though they don't have ANYTHING to do with Jesus Christ today. And because of these people, the world sees "Christians" as hypocrits. Therefore, many of us are changing the term of what it means to be followers of Jesus because in order to stand out as salt and light, we need to separate ourselves from the sand and darkness.

And it's people like you who keep us on our toes. So thank you for the question :)

It is a relationship with Jesus. Not just a religion. A marriage with the husband gone all the time is not a marriage. It is an arrangement. The marriage with both husband and wife together is just that a marriage. They converse with each other, love each other and do for each other. I would rather have a close personal relationship with Jesus than a distant one. You may call it religion if you wish. I choose to call it loving my Lord with all of my heart, soul, spirit, mind and with all my strength. I am a Christian. There is nothing in this world I would rather be.

its because in the world of christianity, there are two worlds that fight against each other. there is the side of a christian that is scared and afraid of hell, and of doing the wrong thing, so, to fight that, they judge others, or try to be good, or end up becoming fake and irrational. there is the other side that actually sometimes connects with god, and in those moments, they find peace, and love, and feel free for a moment. this is the part that is supposed to be there all the time. this is the relationship side, where a person knows they can be whoever they are, and that they are accepted and loved, and that they dont have to be scared of anything. its pretty hard to be a christian and not be scared. but that fear creates the seperation between being religious and being a person who has a relationship with god. relationship is about trust, the opposite of fear. as hard as it is, i would like to care about these people. i would like to show them that they dont have to be afraid, and hold so tightly to so many things.

No I'm not ashamed of anything. I call it a relationship because that is what it is. I talk with Him all the time, and He speaks to me too. It's a relationship, not just a far off God that I never hear, or never see spiritually. I actually have a relationship with Him.
I guess religion reminds me of a bunch of traditional things, like robes, bowing down, stuff like that. That's the only reason I call it a relationship.

Christianity affects every part of a Christian's life. It is a religion. It is a gathering of believers (at church, etc.). It is also a personal relationship with Christ. You can't be a Christian just because you're standing in the same vicinity as another Christian. Christianity begins inside a person.

All Christians should feel shame for their own sin, but when forgiveness comes, then we proclaim the name of Christ to others out of gratitude for our salvation.

because true christianity is not a religeon but a personal relationship with God...religeon is quite simply a human view of actions to take, or a lifestyle to live that pleases God...christianity is the relationship between God and the individual comes first and then the life change or actions follow suite....i dont agree that a belief or relationship with God = religeon. What do you believe? because you believe that are you religeous?

Christianity is not a religion. If you define religion, You will see that Religion means to "bind down" .... Jesus did not come here to bind us down with laws and rules. He came to set us free from the Old Testament laws. That's why Christians have a relationship with Jesus.

Because the Protestants want to distance themselves from the Catholics. We Catholics freely admit to following the Christian religion AND having a relationship with Christ. Not only that, but following the Christian religion is what allows us to have a relationship with Christ!
