Just like humans it takes actual milk a couple of days to come in. The first liquid is called colostrum and it's full of antibodies. Most newborns won't be very hungry for milk until it comes in anyway, plus even though it's instinctive that the kittens nurse it does take them some practice to get the hang of it. If this situation continues for more than 4 days you should call a vet.

If the kittens are under 6 weeks then you need to feed them artificially. This needs to be done with bottles made speciffically for kittens. You can get milk speciffically for kitten its called kamar(sp) at a local pet store. This milk will come in steps as far as the babies deveolpment. As the kittens get older you will need to move up in steps. ALSO if the kittens never nursed period you need to get them some collostrum(sp again!), this is the nutrient a mother mammal gives to her babies within the first feeding. It gives the animal proper immune system boosts they need to fight off diseases until their first set of shots.
A good idea would be to go to either a Vets office or Pet Store to be shown how to properly feed the kittens. If not done properly they can do whats called "aspirate" fluid into their lungs and this can progress to pnuemonia... Be careful. When in doubt get an experts opinion! Good Luck!

kittens should be nursing right away.
You can get KMR milk replacement at pet store, WalMart, some grocery stores. Small bottle. Feed every 2 hrs.
Sounds like #1 is to get mom and kittens to the vet ASAP, NOW, TODAY

Someone dropped off a kitten before it was ready to be separated from its mother. I called a vet & he told me to give it a little warm milk with baby rice cereal & an egg yolk mixed up in it. It seemed to work for this kitten.

If you do not have the time to care for this mother and her kittens, you need to take them to the vet and have the mother looked at. If it will take too much time, don't let them die of starvation. That is cruel. Have them put to sleep, or take the mother and her kittens to the humane society and let them make the decisions that need to be made. If you just have the kittens put to sleep, you still need to take care of the mother. Obviously, something is not right with her.

Hurry up and get her to a vet. Something might have went wrong during her pregnancy. Try giving her milk like in woman who breast feed. Keep her fed & give her fluids. Try to hand feed the kittens milk with a dropper until you cn get mom better. I would get to to a vet hough right away.
