It's all individual. You can be homeschooled and social, but often kids who are homeschooled are socially stunted. A lot of socialization happens in school, but it's not necessarily for the better; again, it's all individual, and kids can be cruel.

I have to admit ... Everybody I ever met who had been homeschooled was weird. Good for you if you have a lot of friends and can socialize with them normally.

Hi, I am a homeschooler, In grade 11, and love people! My whole family and most of the other homeschoolers I know are very socialble.
I am involve in church ministries, fairs, public speaking, and politics, as well as piano and couselling.
Most homeschools are not unsociable, it depends on how strict the parents are.

I dated a home schooled girl for two years, and let me tell ya, it was hard. Not to be rude to you, but most homes schooled kids have very little social skills. I live in a town with a lot of home schooled people, and a lot of the time you can see them on their front yards pretending to be samurais and they have fake swords and everything. My friends and i like to drive circles around that block, because it is so funny to watch them, because they think they are so cool, because they know all the moves. But you cant really blame the, they really don't know anything else, and i feel bad for them.

They're ignorant. I understand the homeschooled students here have socials with other homeschooled students. I also hear they have sports and band and other activities that public school students have.

I guess its just contrary to belief. I does not appear to non homeschoolers that there is any social activity..

I beleive its a matter of preference and to be quite honest... I and my family are not home schooled, but my son who is autistic should have been as i look back... His 8th grade teacher should be shot drawn and quartered for the mind trips she did to him!

People stereo-type us as "un-social beings" all the time! I get it too, being one myself. It gets old after a while. I think we get it so much because there are a lot of unsocial homeschoolers who are SO concentrated on school all the time, so they assume that all of us are like that! I get tired of it....

They want an excuse to bash people who are different, and to defend their failing institutions.

Ironically, their bigoted actions and flawed arguments just add more merit to the case for homeschooling.

It's like a kid playing a video game by himself while some 'Tom Sawyers' out there is having fun with his friends on the playground but the academic ability is debatable.
