Our cat is almost 10 mos. old and he has lots of energy and play aggression. He loves to give love-bites to ankles & feet in an attempt to get us to play with him. Cats are biologically prone to stalking behavior to catch their prey.

The best toy we bought him is a DaBird and when he's into the mood to get feisty, we get out the DaBird and twirl it for him so he can burn off some energy.

The other thing that has reduced it is to use a squirt bottle and squirt him once when he attempts to nip. We have started that while he's a kitten, so he's nipping less. We also used the squirt technique when he was batting at the blinds. He thought the blinds "did it" and so far as not attempted to swat the blinds any longer.

Your kitty is older and you may be able to train him , but it could take longer. Ignore him when he's being aggressive, try the squirt technique and definitely get him a DaBird to chase. Wear socks if possible, don't wiggle your toes so much.

Cats can also get over-stimulated and when the tail starts flicking and the ears go back, it's time to put them down for a time-out.

Note: I also read somewhere if you put a little Vick's VapoRun around your ankles or toes, they will be turned off by the smell of it and bite less. :)

He probably views you as his playmate but perceives your father and uncle as not being so tolerant of his moods so steers clear of them. Cats are very temperamental creatures and yes, they do tend to be lovey-dovey one minute then aggressive the next while also have traits such as they don't like being touched in certain places (for my cat, it was her stomach and her tail).

If your cat bites you hard and won't let go, don't struggle as he'll just fight back harder. Let your hand go limp and he'll let go, thinking he's killed his 'prey'. Afterwards, shout 'no' sharply then walk off without giving him attention so he learns (but don't expect miracles as cats don't listen as well as dogs). If you know he doesn't like his back or stomach touched then keep clear of those areas. And if he's in a playful mood, instead of letting him bite you, perhaps play with him with a piece of string or a toy so you're playing in a way that doesn't hurt you.

Male cats tend to be more aggressive so, if he hasn't already, maybe you should think about neutering him so those hormones calm down.

I have 2 cats and they USED to do that to me also but it is cause FEET are always moving or you must be swaying them back in forth or doing something with your feet that the cat thinks your feet are a threat to him. Lol. its pretty funny but it is the truth. When my cats used to do that... I would say NO THATS BAD! But not in a mean way ..just to show them that they cant do that to me anymore...I swear to you after all the times they TRIED and I taught them that it was bad..they NEVER tried to attack again on me or anyone else!

Do you have shoe laces? If you do they probably attack that becayse it's a string moving. If he wants to play or you to pet him my cat just sits like a dog and looks up and meows. It's so cute when he does that I pick him up and pet him for an hour.
