I live in Florida, it can get up to a hundred degrees here. The other day I was eating out and I saw 2 muslim women walking down the street completely covered up from head to toe. Isnt it unbearably hot? Its unbearably hot to people wearing a regular ammount of clothing.

I live in Iowa and saw an Amish couple dressed covered up and they roof houses in the same dress in 100 degree weather...heavy long sleeves and pants for men...and I thought the same things but I think it's a sacrifice they are willing to make for their devotion to their religion.

Well, I'm an Arab and I can tell you back home the temprature gets worse than that yet most of the women are draped in black. The same question can apply there. To be honest it's not the big issue non-Muslims make it out to be. We were never a people who expose much skin anyways even though we're a deserts people. Even pre-Islam.

I live in the states now and I cover everything except my hands and face. I wear loose clothes and the right material and it's comfortable. I mean you can't feel absolutely cool in the summer anyways unless you're nearby an AC or something.

The other day my sister was wearing a black top in college (yeah they say to stay away from black in the summer, but she doesn't listen and doesn't mind ). Anyways, a college-mate asked her the same Q, aren't you hot? .. my sister offered her to feel her hand and to the girls suprise, my sis was way cooler than her.

To me the weather is always bearable, just make sure your dressed accordingly. Any challenges I bare is a test from Allah (swt), therefore in the end even if I suffer a little discomfort, I will be rewarded for it. Which is the purpose of a true Muslim on earth, to please Allah (swt). We might look like loser to some in this life but, God willing, winners in the hereafter.

peace unto you

I am Muslim. The clothing is supposed to be somewhat cool but sometimes the heat can be unbearable. I don't wear it in summer and I often ask why other people do. Being a true Muslim is much more than wearing uncomfortable foreign clothing.

(I'm not sure how many Muslims answered this)

Well, religiously commited Muslim girl can go anywhere if needed, but she has to be dressed modestly. I know Florida is one of the hottest states in US. I came from an Muslim Asian country where summer like Florida stays from March until October. But no girls there wear short skirts or T-shirts or whatever. Still they don't complain. Why?

One of my cousins also chose to live her life total Islamically. The more she adopted islamic rules, the more easier everything got. It depends on the depth of faith. And God surely helps them who follow His rules.

What about Hell's temparature? If a Muslim girl wear short dresses because she can't manage in summer then she has to be prepared for the heat of Hell.

Actually it's not much hotter then regular clothes. The material is mostly natural and since it's free flowing it allows air to flow through. Try to wear some loose fitting dress that covers up most of you or shorts and a tank top. I bet you won't feel the difference.

Of course you're gonna get hot..but you overlook that..i am new to Islam and when i am at work in the sun..yea its very hot...but i am willing to do what i am suppose to..that is what Faith is all about....Once you believe in something it is hard to give it up...i cannot even dream of walking out of my house in say a tank top... before i became Muslim it was different--but now--there is no way i could go out like that....i don't care if it is 110 out side..I'll deal with it.. and it gets hot in Georgia...

I am asked all the time are you hot, and i reply are you of course they reply yes.I had not took my declaration of faith last summer so i was in shorts and tank tops, this year i am in full dress and hijab and i have yet to break a sweat. My mind is not on the heat it is on Allah, and there are days we just do not want to put it all on but i choose to be obiedent and i recieve many blessings by the choices i make.I could not walk out of the house anymore not dressed modestly.hamdullah i am very comfortable.

What about Mexicans?? Those guys mow 50 yards a day in long sleeves, jeans, and who knows what else. But these guys work in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Hell, and other towns that boil daily. Muslim women chose to hide themselves because they are raised that way. Sucks to be trapped in your religion.

of course its unbearably hot but they have probably gotten used to that seeing as in their culture they are forced to wear them. Think of all the women in afghanistan and what not who wear them. it gets a lot hotter over there than in florida. i guess they are used to it. its just part of their culture, i'm sure they dont just wear it for fun
