Yes, along with the seeing a black cat, steping under a latter, breaking mirrors, and knocking on wood myths and other stupid superstitions

it was said that way out of respect for the person eating, because when someones eating and your sweeping the floor, dust and dirt rises in the air and get in the food, and someone would say "I am sweeping way over here..." but dust lingers, and allergy's and pollen and dust mites could make people sick... when floating , so if you were sick...you couldn't work, and you'd spend money to see a doc...hence the bad luck with money ,so it's more out of respect

Probably , all those germs from sweeping the floor going into the food will make them sick and they won't be able to work when they are sick, so hence the loss of money.

I had to admit i have no heard this one but don´t sweep near by eating people for mere salubrity (or probably they lost money on goping to the doctor)

probably, it's just disgusting to have someone sweeping the floor next to where you're eating considering brooms kick up dust
