I think you mean impetigo. It's a fairly common condition in children, started by a scrape where dirt gets in. Over a week or two it crusts. However, it is EXTREMELY contagious, as your doctor no doubt told you. I had it as a child years & years ago, so the treatment may be better now. But my mom had to wash the area with liquid soap, then apply alcohol & peroxide. If you think that stung, you are right on the money!
But it's not a debilitating disease, just sort of depressing in the summer when the kid wants to play with others and can't.

impetigo is a bacterial infection of the skin caused by steptococci or staphylococci, it is common in children and some adults. A topical ointment or antibiotics should be given as treatment. Most children get this from playing in sandboxes or toys that are not cleaned regularly. Nothing to worry about.

Impetigo is usually caused by the same streptococci strains as those that cause strep throat. It can also be caused by Staphylococcus infection.
Scratching may spread the lesions.
The infection is spread by direct contact with lesions or with nasal carriers. The incubation period is 1-3 days. Dried streptococci in the air are not infectious to intact skin.

People are making it seem like it's only mild. It's very contagious! Your son got it from another child or an infected cut or bug bite. Kids can't even go to school until they are treated with antibiotics for 24 hours. Some people have to be put in isolation in a hospital! It goes from mild to severe very quickly. Follow your doctor's orders and he will be fine!

It's Impetigo. You usually get it from a scrape or other open skin being exposed to bacteria. Antibiotics and cream clear it right up. My son got it last year from the beach. Germs in the sand got in a brushburn and then it wouldn't heal so we got prescription cream and pills. Goes away in a couple of days.

I believe you mean impetigo. It's really just a small skin infection that can be cleared up quickly in most cases. It's similar to ezcema. Don't worry, it's not a big problem for most people, and it's very common among children.

Do you mean impetigo? Usually scratching your hair or skin and getting it infected. Use alcohol or peroxide on your hair or skin. I have heard that some people will use mouth wash and leave it on for 15min and then wash it out with just water and no shampoo.See your dr as soon as you can..

You mean, impetigo?
It's a bacterial infection of the skin, usually secondary to excessive scratching from bug bites or eczema.
Antibiotic skin cream can get rid of it.

This is a skin infection usually contracted by small children, usually if they wipe their nose with the back of their hand. Good hygiene will clear it up.

I think you misheard the Dr. Your son probably has impetigo, which is a common infection caused by staph or strep germs.
