I have never seen a Sparrow walking. Are they physically unable to walk or is it that they just choose not to because its easier to hop?

most smaller birds will hop due to the fact that they don't have "legs" like we do. although they do have the same structure and bones as we do, it is not really suited for walking. unlike a crane or stork, sparrows have tiny little knubs for legs and it's like walking with legs no bigger than your shins. hopping is easier since there is no real bending of the leg just a spring board effect.
