The average woman in Turkey (especially in the big cities) does not dress any differently than what you are wearing in your picture. Only a minority of women actually wear traditional Islamic dress, and the fact is that the government does not like it when people wear traditional Islamic dress. For example, it is forbidden to wear headscarves in government buildings. Many young women who insist on wearing headscarves have to leave Turkey and attend university in America or Europe because if they attend a Turkish university, they will be forced to remove their Islamic dress while on campus.
As for language, you will not really be expected to learn much Turkish because you are a foreigner, but it would be better (and easier) for you if you tried to learn at least some.

Knowing languages as I do.. and knowing that it is Turkish that you want to learn.. the BEST way(in your case) is to study intensive Turkish IN Turkey. As far as dress.... NO.. you do not have to dress as the Turks do because you are a foreigner.. The only exception MIGHT BE.... MIGHT BE that the school you attend might want you to dress in Turkish style but I doubt it very very much.

The social life is not much different than in any other European country such as Italy or Greece. The culture is certainly different, warm and haspitable people. 60% of women dress same with you. The others dress different because of countryside traditions, conservative Muslims and freedom :)
You cannot wear/put on any scarf in govermental buildings and schools etc.
Come and see. There is nothing showed on that nonsense Midnight Express.
If you are looking for a metropol prefer istanbul. But I suggest izmir, antalya, bodrum, dalaman,çeÅme,bursa.

First, you need to watch the movie "Midnight Express". That will teach you more about their culture.
