I met one recently, but "everyone" tells me stay away from cops. I've never dated one before.

Dear Tied - I used to work at a Sheriff's Office. I found out that all Law Enforcement Agencies are nothing but meat houses. Very few, and I mean VERY FEW cops are married for more than 10 years. They work fast, eat fast, sleep fast and drive fast, all because of their jobs. Their mates don't understand them so they end up splitting. Law Enforcement has the highest divorce, suicide and alcohol / drug abuse rate of any other profession. That's a fact and you can look it up.
My advice is don't date cops. You don't need that baggage.

Dating Cops

I know a few cops. Some have an attitude and a love of power that sometimes they use to get there way.

I also know some cops who are kind people and who do feel proud of their job but doesn't use their power to get what they want or pay someone back for making them mad.

I think you should judge him as a person and not steriotype him because of the position he holds. Not all cops are bad

I have officers in my family, they have issues. The guy that lives one house over is an officer....a big jerk. I used to work at a jewlery store and had many local sherrifs as customers. JERKS! Honestly, I have interacted with about 25 or so officers, most men, a few were women, and ALL but one had some serious control issues. It is like once they are given a badge they think they are in charge of the world. This is just my experience of course.

Now I am not by any means saying they are all like that. I also would like to say they are in a seriously high stress job. And they must need to have tons of confidence to do that job well and stay safe, it just seems to me they take it a bit far when dealing with people outside of work.

The one officer that was nice was a really great guy, so much so that he pretty much made up for all the others being so difficult.

So, in my experience I guess that would make your odds 25-1 of getting involved with a jerk! Good luck.

I dated a female cop once. It was kind of cool, but some cops tend to look down on people who are not cops. Feel him out first.

You should go out on a few dates and make up your own mind, rather than relying on the prejudices of others. Are there bad cops? Yes. Are they all like that? What do you think?

Personally i think it is up to you. Cops are married so they do get dates and some women think it is a good idea. Personal choice though i guess.

anyone can have their pro's and cons.

i'm engaged to a man in the army. people can see both ways to it.

dating a cop can get u off on many things. but then again since you are only dating him they might not care. but if you were married to him then other cops would let you go.

It all depends on how independent you are. I am a cop and I work all kinds of different shifts. Some times I have to work over time and cancel my plans with my girlfriend. So if you can take all of that then go ahead and date him.
