Ah, how to start? There are many different ways to look at the soul. The theosophists and Hindi call it the Ariadne's thread, my personal belief sees it as just another sphere in the spheres of "heaven." To call it a part of wine is to say that we are ripening in the friut juices of existence, That we are but a part of the whole, even if vital to the taste of life....Man, it's been a minute since I really discussed deep spiritual concepts. Sorry; but if you want to holler and go deeper, you can get ahold of me at lilredac@yahoo.com....

I would say that when we die as we all must, the only thing that moves on is the spirit. A person is I guess you would say 3 parts, body, mind (which I would say is soul) and spirit. If any of these parts is not present a person is not, or at least not whole. I think the quote refers to the spirit which would be the only thing that moves on. Anything that affects any of these parts affects the whole in some way, and this affect is different from person to person, some are strong some ways and some others.

The world is a hard place to live in, and it wears at you and wears at you, and your soul is the last thing to give in. It holds out the longest. It sounds like this person may not have had such a wonderful life, and had some bleak views on the world. But I might be completely off in my interpretation, who knows?

Soul.... is a name givin to what you get when you are born. It is just the energy of life. We all get it at birth and lose it at death. it is not destroyed but becomes part of our universe to be re established as a new life when new birth occores.
