I have a Nikon Coolpix P2 when I take shots indoors it's really dark. Outside my pictures are perfect. I have read a few books on the subject but I can't see to get it to work right. Is there a setting you can suggest that might increase the light that hits the sensors or somthing for indoors only?

Has anyone else had this problem with Nikons'?

The camera is at it's most light sensitive when you do the following 2 things:
* crank the ISO up (with my old CoolPix 8700 the maximum was 400, but anything over 200 produced poor image quality.)
* use shooting mode aperture-priority, and keep the aperture number as low as possible (with my Coolpix, that was 2.8)
If you use the flash, you can ignore that advice - but the flash will only work up to 10 feet.

Oh I can help you! I just got a Nikon Cool pic camera for my birthday last week. If you look at the bottom right hand corner or the camera there is a switch that you can move in the middle or left and right. If you put it in the middle (I'm pretty sure) a happy face withh come up in the center f your screen when you are trying to take a picture. Go ahead and take the picture. Now, when you have done that, click the circle button with the triangle on it and go tot he picture that you just took. Now click the center button (I think it says ok. It's in the middle or a circle.) and it will ask you if you want d-lighting. Click yes and wait a few seconds. When the picture comes back it will be brighter! This is because this setting finds the perfect lighting for whereever you are taking the picture at! I had this same problem so I'm glad I could help!!!
