I'm a Christian Youth and I do a lot. I just got back from Maine and I was there a week and we did mission work. 3 weeks ago I went to Guatemala for mission work. But i dont only go to places away from home...i do something called the 30 hour famine where i fast for 30 hours and raise money for starving kids. I visit nursing homes, i do something called Soulfood in Boston where i feed the homeless outside in the Boston common. I do bake sales for various fundraisers poverty, church, etc. I work at church carnivals, and i am part of a youth praise band and drama group that performs religious songs and skits. So there is a lot you can do you just have to look

Do you mean things like having a car wash to raise money or something like that? Do you have a youth Pastor at your church or a youth program? If not, maybe God is putting it on your heart to get one started. Why don't you approach your Pastor with a couple of friends and let him know that you guys want to help out? Or talk to the youth Pastor if you have one. Pray about it and see where God would lead you in this worthy endeavor.

I don't know if you mean fun for the youth or somthing for the youth to do to help the community. If you are wanting to help you might ask the mayor for jobs to fix up the town or certain area. You could go to the elderly/disabled that live in gov't sponsored housing because they are on a really tight budget and can't hire ppl to do chores. They may need something done that they can't reach or can't open, closets cleaned out or furniture moved and cleaned behind. They probably need spider webs swept down that they can't see, curtains taken down and washed and put back up, anything requiring a stepladder or reaching up or squating down!. I live in one and the elderly have such a hard time because ppl have ripped them off and not done the work well or not at all or steal from them. If you do this make up a letter in larger print and easy wording on the churches letterhead a week to 10 days before you are ready to work. Put it on their doors or knock and give it to them. Ask them to make a list of jobs they need done. Pick up the lists a couple of days before you start the work and reassure them of the day you will be back(you will propbaly have to write some lists down yourself) to see what type of work needs done. Divide your group into 2's for inside the house (for your safety and in case anything comes up missing you will be covered. Old folks mislay things and may think it is gone.)and as many as you need for yard work( one mows, one weedeats, one trims limbs/bushes/one for picking up trash and gathering stuff you cut off. Gather your supplies/tools and meet when you have stated that you would be there.Your work may go slower than you think because some old folks like to visit and don't get much company. Before you leave ask them to check it to see if it is what they wanted and ask if there is anything else they need. Don't take any money! Use your youth funds or have a special offering one night to cover gas and cleaning supplies, and maybe a plastic tote or 2 for storing some things for the old folks. You will have shown God's love to some ppl, who feel left out and are sad a lot of the time, and will add many jewels to your crown in Heaven! Thanks for being such a great teen!
