There is a presumption that with "marriage" that there will be the possibility of having children. Marriage is a big step and should be treated that way.
Unfortunately, too many gay people have decided that they want to be "married," too, with no possibility of ever having children between the two of them. That is not marriage. So in that way, there is no such thing as "same-sex marriage."

I am not against legal unions, however, but the consequences for breaking those legal unions should be the exact same for marriage- including division of property, palimony and alimony, if required by the states. Too many gay people seem to just want to get "married" to say they did it in the face of all these Republican, right-wing hypocrites.
Well, I am a Republican conservative and right-wing I am- but if they are just trying to stick it in my face, then how is that a "holy union" of matrimony? It's not. It is laughing and going, "Nyah, nyah-nah nah-nyah-nah," in front of my family.
It has become a slippery slope for all these ACLU-types who just want to kill God in the public arena (oh, and I am an atheist, too, by the way...), take away any reference to Jesus or goodness, replace that with scripture from the Qu'ran (because it is only fair, they say...), remove all references of Christ from Christmas...it doesn't stop!

You know, if they really wanted to be "married" and that was it, I am sure we could find some legal union compromise, as I said. The problem is with their left-wing, hateful ilk, that they want to take a mile once you have given that inch in good faith.
I am glad theat we have finally stood up to this bullying and can get down to the real brass tacks. I think you will find in the coming few years that legal unions are perfectly acceptable.
But I will be able to say, "Merry Christmas" when I am at Macy's shopping for my new X-Box 360.

There is actually very little biblical justification for the way gays are treated by religious groups. The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was not homosexuality, as many people claim, but that the inhabitants were incredibly greedy and inhospitable. Considering that 'thou shalt not be homosexual' isn't one of the 10 commandments it's difficult to understand why some religious people are so intolerant. Also, if homosexuality were perverse and immoral one would expect only to find it being practiced by people as animals are not capable of sinning. However, homosexuality is not uncommon among certain types of animals, so the argument that homosexuality is 'unnatural' doesn't have much of a foundation. Lastly, marriage itself was, until somehwat recently, a means of improving ones situation socially and economically and not a loving union between two people. Women would typically look to marry the wealthiest man they were able to, and married couples typically had lots of kids because many families were self sufficient, and children were essentially free labor. So, long story short, many people are mistaken about both homosexuality and marriage and are content to regurgitate anything that their mother/father/preacher tell them.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with gay and lesbian marriage. If two people love each other and want to spend a lifetime together, it shouldn't matter what their gender is.
I think that people feel threatened by anything that they don't understand. The majority of people are Christian, and the Bible does preach against gay relationships. However, no one is asking them to marry the same gender! If you don't agree with it, you shouldn't do it, but that doesn't take away the right of other people to do it. To each his own.

"same sex marriage" is an oxymoron. It cannot exist. Marriage requires a man and a woman. The primary purpose of marriage is the procreation of children. A close second purpose is the mutual edification of spouses by each other. A gay "union" is formed from pure lust and perversion and nothing good and holy can ever come from it. It is a sin against nature and God. It is one of the sins that cries out for vengence from Our Lord (meaning one of the very most highly despised of sins). This is why Sodom and Gammorrah was destroyed by fire by Our Lord.

It depends on who you ask. I am not against gay marriage, but I do understand why some religions wont allow it. I think that is fine. However, it is when the government gets involved that makes me so upset. Church and state are seperated in the United States. Or at least they are suppose to be. It shouldnt be up to any human being to say that someone cant love another person.

I can fully understand how u feel. I am in the same page as u are right now. Again, Did God permits this for the same sex? Remember Gommorah and SODDOM.. God did not like what he sees and destory... So?!?!?!?! Today everything is in a different picture but do they get blessings from GOD for the same sex in marriages and so on .. SO u can decide why it became an issue for most christians, muslims and jewishs to see it unclean actions against GOD. Again, i always asked myself that either it is wrong or right .. God gives the answers to the gays , not me!

As commonly used each and every of the persons believing similar sex marriage is incorrect are basing it on their 'faith' or their 'religiously depending' perceptions... the issue right here's that we stay in a free society the position each and every man or woman is meant to be equivalent. AND, extra importantly, the position there's a separation of church and state. Marriage might want to be legal for any 2 human beings in spite of race or sexual selection. once everybody tries to commence 'restricting' different peoples rights as 'they' imagine issues might want to be, they set a risky precedent of sometime contained in the destiny having their own rights dwindled...they have for sure no longer seen that throughout their haste to chastise gay human beings...

I personally feel that there should be "Civil Union" with the same rights as married people. this way the gays can have the same legal rights as straights, but the right-wing religious fanatics will have no leg to stand on.

Why is polygamy so wrong? After all if you are a guy and can marry another guy, what would be so wrong with marrying two? Would that be "sick". What is so wrong with incest? If you are a guy and want to marry your brother what could be wrong with that? The children won't be freaks and It does not affect you. So lets get on with it.
