if she refuses to sit on the toilet or potty then she isn't ready. stick with the nappies for another month and try again. i have childminded for twenty years now and what works for one child won't for another. be patient. it is rare for a three year old to still be in nappies,so you have a good few months yet. in my experience the younger ones who are willing to be potty trained often take two to three weeks to stop having regular accidents. older children two and a half to three will be dry within a couple of days when they are ready to take off their nappies. if you force the issue with your little one you may build up anxieties within her.ie if she keeps having accidents and you want her clean she will experience a feeling of failure and of disappointing mummy. You might show signs of stress which will only add to both your miseries. relax and enjoy your daughter and be proud of what she CAN, do not despair of what she can't do. there is a lovely little book i read to the children in my care when they are reaching potty training stage. it is called ONCE UPON A POTTY by ALONA FRANKEL. you will probably find it on AMAZON. that's where i got mine about 4 years ago. good luck and don't worry about her.

There's no right age, i think around 2-3yrs is ok. if she's refusing, let her keep her nappies 4 a few more weeks then try again. u'll know when they're ready as they tell u they want a wee or poo before they do it. i had 2 try a few times with my son but he eventually learnt, he was just over 2 yrs old when i started training him and he's now 2 n a half. in the early days he used 2 get a chocolate finger as a treat when he used the potty.

You should start trying to potty train her now the average potty training age is 1 and a half my mom babysits twins and they are 19 months and were trying to potty train i am only 10 years old and i don't have very good experience with babys other than these ones and they are the cutest things you have ever seen but your the boss and you should teach her that she is going to do what you say and if she doesn't want to sit on the toilet than put her on it and hold her down till she goes potty.

ok the fact that she takes her nappy off is telling me that she is ready to be toilet trained. watch her when the nappy comes off put her on the potty by the sounds of things you will have to be fast. and tell her to do a wee. have some treats show her the treats and tell her if you do a wee in the potty then you can have one treat. but keep the treat out of reach and out of site. if she wants the treat other times you say no sit on potty and do a wee wee and then you can have the treat. Good luck

have you thought about a star chart for doing wee in the potty, get x amount of stars and she gets to choose a prize or if you get a bag full of cheap prizes she can choose one each time, depending on what you want. before you do this sit her down and explain to her what is happening and what you expect from her. start it when you have a few days at home and don't have to go anywhere. just stop putting her in nappy's (but stock up on lots of pants) and she will eventually do a wee in the potty, when she does make a big fuss about what a big clever girl she is. she will love the praise and prizes and will pick the potty training up quickly. whatever you do, don't start this at a time when you are stressed or tired coz there may be lots of accidents before you get any joy. don't forget to take a potty with you when you go out and lots of spare knickers!!! remember you will get more from your daughter from praise than a telling off. you mustn't force her to sit on the potty if she doesn't want to or tell her off for accidents.
i hope this is of some help to you. i started training my son in Jan and he was 2 1/2. i actually started 6 months before and got no joy (probably coz i was too pushy) but i woke up one day and thought, right that is it i am not going to put nappies on him during the day anymore and that was it.....after 2 days he volunteered to sit on the potty!

good luck!

Give her time.
Story 4 you.
My small cousin was the same way. She simply would not go on the potty. One day she said, I'll go when I'm three. On her third birthday she was fully potty trained. She just stopped wearing dippers and used the toilet. Strange but true.
Give your little girl a lot of praise for going near/or sitting on the potty. Pay little attention to the behaviors you don't like.
Good Luck

is no right age. Dont listen to other mothers who tell everyone very loudly how their wonderful child is fully trained. You will know when your child is ready to try. Dont put them under undue stress. They will do it when they are ready. Of my 4 boys, our first took his nappy off at 2 and never wet day or night. two more didnt manage it till 3 and my 4th has some special needs and at 6 still needs to use one from time to time. Let your child lead you a little. You will know when time is right. Let your daughter relax about it for a while and try again in a few months.
