I'ts just not about religion but BELIEF. When peoples BELIEF becomes a part of who they are it becomes a part of thier ego. It becomes something they will die for because it's what gives them hope and security about things unknown. Now you take a belief in one god/person/teaching and put it up against another belief of a god/person/teaching then trouble starts. It's not so much about the Belief per se but when one group IMPOSES their own version of it on another group then thats when the bloodshed occurs. Basically it becomes Ideology vs Ideology not just from a religious point of view but from a political one as well.
In other words trouble starts when someone says.
My Imaginary friend with his Imaginary Ideas is better than YOUR Imaginary friend with HIS Imaginary Ideas.

Belief is a strange thing that transcends hope. Hope is something which doesn't alter external reality. Belief by it's very nature is something which engenders itself so strongly in the psyche as the right thing to do that others who aren't practicing it must be wrong, and one they're either poor idiots for not believing it - or two, they need to be "shown" the proper way to exemplify that particular belief.
This holds true in many more facets of life than religion.
After all, most common sense is a belief system as well.

It is relevant to note that killing in the name of an ideology is not limited to religion.
Atheists in power killed 70 million to 100 million in just the 20th century.
This is far more than have been killed in any war involving religion.
Most wars are fought over culture and resources (rather than over religion).
Cordially,
John

If you figure it out let me know. It sure doesn't make sense. Like the Another Mother For Peace People say: "War is not healthy for children and other living things."
