I like the effort to include everybody, but it shouldnt be in the pledge. God is a part of religion, no matter what. Religion is a system of beliefs that involves the existence of at least one of: a human soul or spirit, a deity or higher being*. Church matters (such as the thought that we all live under god) and state matters (that as a country we should be indivisible and just) should be kept seperate. Valient attempt at compromise, but i think god should be left out entirely - you can recognize god to yourself without having to force other people to recognize him when all they want to do is say they support the country.

Note, the First Amendment says no established religion; it does not say no God. Many of the founding fathers were Deists; men who believe in God but not in any particular religion. That's why they did not want an established religion, the way England has. It was not because they were atheists, nor because they thought the very concept of God (in generic terms) was anathema.

You know we took GOD out of the schools, We got more school violence. We took GOD out of world views we got more world violence. Sounds like a trend to me. If we keep it up we might not have a flag to pleadge allegiance to. GOD put us here he can take us away.
