Yeah, we've all heard of anti-bacterial applesauce right?

That's not true. Pork and apples meld well together, like mint and lamb.

This is taken from Farmer John's FAQs:

What flavors go best with pork?

Your first thought may be of traditional fruit flavors such as apple, pineapple and cranberry, and while they go great with Pork, you'll find that Pork has a great flavor that blends well and is enhanced by a large variety of seasonings, sauces, marinades and accompaniments. To create a great dish, here are some combinations that will add international flavoring to your cooking:

Italian style : tomatoes, oregano, garlic, basil
Mexican style : cilantro, cumin, oregano, garlic, chilies
Greek style : lemon, garlic, rosemary, mint, oregano
French style : white wine, tarragon, thyme, mustard
Russian style : low-fat sour cream, paprika, onion
Oriental style : ginger, sesame seeds, soy sauce, garlic
Indonesian style : peanut, lime, ginger
Caribbean style : lime, rum, allspice, ginger, garlic
Indian style : curry powder, garlic, chili powder, cinnamon

Is there any danger of trichinosis?

Because of modern feeding practices, the age-old fear of trichinosis is unfounded today. Trichinae is a clinical rarity. It is a threat primarily in wild game meat -- even in the highly unlikely event it were present, trichinae is killed at 137º F. That's well below the recommended doneness for pork, which is 160º F.

No it won't kill any bacteria. But pork needs to be cooked at the right temp. and for the right amt. of time to kill the bacteria. Applesauce WILL make the pork more tender, if your cooking it in the oven. Just apply it to the top , kind of thick ,cover and wa-la tender pork. And by the way - for all the people that gave an answer to make her feel stupid ----- shame on you ! She's asking a question that she wants an honest answer, not some wise-guy putting her down. You are only showing YOUR stupidity !!

After taking many microbiology classes, and actually doing an experiment as a small portion of my Master's thesis, I can assure you that apple sauce does NOT kill the bacteria in pork. Pork is disgusting, because it's filled with microbes. From my research and experience, of all the common meats that humans eat, pork is the only one where the bacteria stay in, even after properly cooking it.

I've never heard of it, but I love to eat pork and apple sauce, but not because Peter Brady did it, I just love it. Wanna make some for me? No? Oh well, but I thought I'd ask you anyways...

That's not true! haha if pork has harmful bacteria then people everywhere should be dying . But tpp much pork is bad for you though it causes high blood pressure, thus apple sauce can be good partner to it to bring in some vitamins and anti-oxidants.

Why not try some shrimp toast? I have an atkins recipe for this in my blog http://recipe.gotblab.com/health-diet/shrimp-toast/

What? The applesauce taste good with the pork chops. Killing bacteria? That is why you COOK the meat before serving it! the applesauce (to some people) brings out the flavor of the pork.
Where he gets that the applesauce kills the bacteria is beyond me.

Pork is really good cooked with apples, also.

I like chopped cooked pork with spaghetti also. Sounds strange, but it's really good.
