Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Many Christians struggle over whether or not it is sinful to perform Reiki. However, some people have done research and sought guidance through prayer to decide. I encourage you to read the follow article and post your answers:

Let me stress again -- anyone who is answering this question please visit the link in my question above. Also, reiki is not 'supernatural' it is a natural way to open yourself up to God and allow HIS/HER healing energies to flow through you and into the person being healed.

Reiki is not a religion -- although it is considered to be very spiritual. Again, it is just a way of opening yourself up to the healing powers of God and chanelling that energy through yourself and into the person being healed. It is not a perversion of anything, and some believe it is actually encouraged to heal others in the bible, as is stated in the first link above.

I am a more or less traditonal christian and happen to also be a reiki master. Jesus said "feed my sheep". I take that to mean I shouldnts all I can to help others- that incudes all my talents and training, including reiki. I realize I may be in the minority here and don't mind that at all. be well,
merlyn

Many Christians practice Reiki. Reiki is not religious it has to do with universal energy. Most Reiki teachers include information about the Chakra because it is useful even though chakra are not part of the original Reiki information from Mikao Usui.

I honestly belief in Reiki as a Christian. I honestly think a lot of people are tied up in their faith by names of different things.
All through the bible it says that people will heal the sick in Jesus name. So why not also in Reiki even though it's a Japanese belief. You are taking the knowledge and power that God has given you to remove disease from the body.

I love it. I've had my 2nd atunement.
There is some material from Max Freedom Long which may explain the mechanics of Reiki. Although Max writes of Huna in Hawaii, there is a lot of continuity between Reiki and Huna.
There is also some material from Masaru Emoto about water. It gives some inderstanding as to why we bless our food and drink. I also understand more of the wine at the Last Supper. Do the rice experiment - one rice container you praise, one rice container you hate, and one container you ignore. See the results and judge for yourself.

I believe that the only Healer, is Jesus. By His stripes we are Healed. I think that any religion that call for "life force energy" or spirit guided life force energy" shouldn't be messed with. The only spirit that I listen to is the Holy Spirit. All others are not of God. New age movement teachings, aren't new, just newest, used by satan as a tool.
There is only one God, all others are just "gods"
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
After going back and rereading the article. Yes I read it. I still see nothing about Jesus. I have nothing without Jesus. I can't heal, I can't preach, I can't teach, NOTHING!!! It is only through the Holy Spirit, that we can heal. It is NOT my human hands, but that I am used as a tool.

Reiki is evil. How can it be that everybody can learn Reiki and has the "ability" to perform reiki from a distance. Everybody can be good or evil thats why. Reiki "masters" can also "heal" from a distance using cards and symbols even by using a picture of someone. What they do is they call on spirits and "beings", or they getting the help from spirits and "beings" but they dont know it themselves. But some people do know what they are dealing with and those people are just pure evil. On first place they can "help" the person but it will always have its side effects. The person who gets the reiki threathment has some troubles anyway or he or she wont ask or look for stuff like reiki and things like that. So when it helps them in first place they think reiki is good for them. It seems that almost all reiki masters and people who gets reiki have some troubles in life. So when these "masters" of "nothing" using the "healing" ability on a person from a distance, the person who gets the 'threathmeant" will feel it if he is "open" for it. And by "open" i mean vulnerable. And by vulnerable i mean a broken heart, troubles in life and so on. Drugs are an important tool off the devil, and many drugs are a invention of the devil. People who use these getting vulnerable, but God doesnt allow evil to affect you. You can only be affected if you are vulnerable and open, and have lived a bad life and made bad decisions in your life where people did get hurt by your decisions. Change your life, re-evaluate your belief and choose for God instead of Satan. And dont fall for its tricks, and people saying they are helping you. Even people who say they believe in God can be deceived. Many doesnt even know and are blinded by this "gift" from the dark side. How i know this? Well i am vulnerable, or was. But i am still "open". And can feel this "life force". But when i turned to God, and i mean praying everyday for hours, i can feel this "energy" turning itself against me. I can feel the "energy" flowing around my body when i move my hands around. When i think of something and doesnt say it, it happens many times that the person next to me says it, or vice versa. Many stuff like this, but im not proud of it, and its not an ability or a "gift". I wouldnt dare to use this 'gift" even if i knew that i would be rich with it. These reiki masters being proud they can be something that they dont know really the origins of. If reiki was so good why the "founders" are dealing with health problems anyway? And 1 think i know that many people are affected with this but sooner or later the salvation will be there, just depends on when...
ps: anyone who says energy or healing i wont trust, your not a doctor or God, just weak and vulnerable

I didn't read the link, your information was enough for me. It sounds alot like the yoga I teach! If everyone would take a yoga class every day, they would not get so stressed!
I'm not crazy about the way it sounds because I know that Jesus is the only healer, and one must be very careful messing with this kind of thing, as the enemy wants to sneak things in on us. I wouldn't want to deal with it, I'll stick with Jesus, and ask Him for healing, He still does it you know.

Christians already practice "the laying on of hands" as described in the book of James 5:14. Any other practice would be a perversion of this technique. If a Christian has to go outside of his or her faith to find true peace and whole body/mind/soul contentment then I would counsel that person to rethink their faith.
