I would but lemon pepper and lemon juice on it, maybe a couple garlic cloves, wrap it in foil and put it on the BBQ. Yum!!!

Oh this is so subjective... it's generally not what's the best way to cook something, but rather how do I prepare a particular recipe I like so I actually still like it.

There are plenty of ways to cook salmon, and all are good in their own right. You have to ask yourself what kind of pallete you have before you decide on a particular recipe to try first. And if that doesn't appeal to you try another, and another. Eventually you should find something you like.

As for the Italian dressing, the acid would cook the outer layers of the salmon in short order (turning it white and grey). Never marinate fish as it is not a dense meat and cooks in acids too easily. If you want to add flavor to fish: either use a rub, or add sauces/juices while cooking. I would stay away from adding alcohol since fish cooks so fast that it rarely gives the alcohol enough time to evaporate.

get a big piece of aluminum foil lay the salmon skin side down, use a small amount of butter, dill weed, and a bit of water. I cook a 4-5 lb fillet and I melt 2 tblspoons butter on stove don't boil it just liquify, then add 1 teaspoon "DILL WEED" to the butter and stir it up good. Now brush the butter w/dill weed over the fillet You can sprinkle extra dill weed if you want , put about 1/4 cup watter in the foil (fold the foil up to hold the water ( a touch of italian dressing might be nice here) I add whole mushrooms and sometimes fresh sprigs of asparagus along the sides, then seal the foil up leaving no opening for heat or steam to escape. I then put it on the grill and cook. You may want to use another piece of foil to make it stronger (from breaking or splitting) depending on the size salmon doesn't take long to cook. I cook a 5 lb fillet in 10 - 15 minutes with grill set on medium. Using a fork, open foil and fish should flake off and it should be very easy to pull a chunk of fish away from the skin this lets ya know when done.... Personal opinion Salmon MUST be cooked with dill weed

Good Luck...

Italian dressing is ok but if you want to use a dressing type marinade, try one with dill. A great lemon and dill flavor even under your oven broiler is a great quick preparation! Fresh herbs in general enhance salmon!

Seriously, I don't think the Italian dressing would taste good on Salmon. The vinegar in it might throw off the taste. It really is best, filleted...de-boned and skin removed, place on foil, rub softened real butter on it, squeeze fresh lemon juice over it, then salt and pepper to taste and fold the foil over the top. Bake in oven or place on a grill.

OK here's one , now I like baked salmon, that most cooks would never admit to.. nice fillet of salmon, some compound butter , such as garlic and jalapenos or fresh dill IE you choice. I like the Jalapeno. wrapped in parchment paper and microwaved. Now this depends on you microwave mine I use 2 minutes then check the fish its usually perfect. again this depends on amounts etc. Just don't over cook it . Oh yes add a squeeze of lemon or lime is good.

I do not know about that .But here is a recipe that I love cooked salmon..

1/2 cup of Kraft mayo
1 tablespoon of dejaun mustard, or Gray Poupon mustard

then coat the fish top and bottom with the mixture . preheat oven 375 . coat fish then bake for 20 min. if it is about 1 in thick. 30 min. if it is over. let it rest with the door slightly open after cooking for 10 min. this will let the heat soak in . then serve , it is great !

I like to take a salmon steak and cut a pocket in the middle. Take a mixture of frozen spinich(thawed and squeezed dry) salsa and shredded cheese and pack in the center. Add more on top and put more salsa in top of this. Bake in a convection oven for about twenty minutes at 375.
