first take off the leg hair then the body hair and do the head last. It is easiest that way and the cat won't be scared as much.

I would take your cat to a groomer and pay the 20 bucks to have your cat shaved. Cat's have delicate skin that experiences razor burn easily.

It was the best 20 bucks I ever spent.

And it's going to save you tons of scratches and possible hisses and bites. And you aren't going to be seen as a threat to your cat, the groomer will:)

First of all cats are dangerous to handle even for professionals. DO NOT attempt this yourself!!! If it bites you, you will need to go the hospital.

Second, cat skin is very thin and very elastic. You will end up cutting your cat to ribbons. Even professionals cut them on occasion.

Third, whoever said pay a groomer $20 is way off. Where I Iive, it costs anywhere from $50 to $80. Thats if you can find a groomer who will do it. Many groomers will not do cats because of the danger.

It is expensive, but safer for the cat, to have a vet or an animal groomer shave it!

Unless you need to completely shave your cat, don't. Their fur acts as insulation...keeping heat in during winter, and heat out during the summer. I know it sounds wierd, but there was just a thing on tv about it due to the HOT weather we are having.
