I am entertained by the total lack of knowledge expressed in the answers so far. I think that most of them are a great argument against home schooling. The universe (observable ) is immense, it takes light 30,000 + years just to cross our little galaxy of several hundred million stars. Our nearest galaxy (Andromeda) is over 2,200,000 light years away and we can see billions more galaxies stretching out 13,000,000,000 Light years. According to fundies, the universe is about 6000 years old, which means the light from the stars less than halfway across our own galaxy should not be visible yet. Every night new stars should appear in the sky as their light finally reaches earth and the light from the nearest galaxy to ours (Andromeda) should not arrive for another almost 2.2 million years. Anyone who makes the claim that the Earth is 6,000 or so years old is absurd and to be pitied

I believe that the universe is 6 thousand years old because the Word of God says so!

As far as the stars in the night sky goes God created these stars on the fourth day of creation!

We don't know the speed of light or even what light is. A light year is a distance not a time. It based on the "assumed " speed of light. Don't get too excited about the stars just yet. Scientist don't have a clue how far they are.

if the universer was "billions" years old the galaxies would lose thier shape after a while>

if the earth was "billions" of years old, it would have orginally had to orbit the sun at a speed that would have flatenned it like a pancake (you know the earth loses speed after time right?)

most of then dont think about it, but the ones that do say there is some sort of time disturbance because we are close to the center of the universe or far away from it i forget, i think they say it happens because the universe is expanding
