Seventh-Day Adventists believe, above all else, that Ellen G. White, their founder, was a prophetess with authority above that of the apostles. This alone is enough to mark that religion as a cult. Supposedly she gained this prophetic ability after undergoing severe head trauma.
The "Seventh-Day" part refers to their belief that observing the Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week, is still binding on men today. Under the New Testament, people come together on the first day of the week (Sunday) (Acts 2:1ff, 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2).
They also bind Old Testament dietary laws, while people today are not subject to such.

We are a Christian movement that preaches the Word of GOD. We preach of the Second Coming of Christ, water immersion baptism, the Ten Commandments(ALL OF THEM!!!), etc.
Much more to be said.
http://www.adventist.org/
PS. Sabbath keeping is NOT of the Devil.
Acts 13:42 Â And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
43 Â Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
44 Â And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Why didn't the Gentiles ask for the following day to be taught(Sunday) in the Synagogues?

What Adventists Believe
As a Christian church, Seventh-day Adventists are a faith community rooted in the beliefs described by the Holy Scriptures
As a Christian church, Seventh-day Adventists are a faith community rooted in the beliefs described by the Holy Scriptures. Adventists describe these beliefs in the following ways:
God's greatest desire is for you to see a clear picture of His character. When you see Him clearly, you will find His love irresistible.
God most clearly reveals His character in three great events. The first is His creation of man and woman--and His giving them the freedom of choice. He created humans with the ability to choose to love Him or to hate Him! The death of Jesus Christ, God's only Son, on the cross as our substitute is the second great event. In that act He paid the penalty we deserve for our hateful choices toward God and His ways. Jesus' death guarantees forgiveness for those choices and allows us to spend eternity with Him. The third event confirms the first two and fills every heart with hope: Christ's tomb is empty! He is alive, living to fill us with His love!
Remember, Jesus has already won the war. He is victorious! We celebrate His victory in our lives when we participate in the Lord's Supper. This meal includes three symbols:
Foot washing (which symbolizes our commitment to love others as Jesus loves us),
bread ("This bread is my flesh," Jesus said, "which I will give for the life of the world," John 6:51, NIV), and
wine or grape juice ("Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life." John 6:54, NIV)

Originally they began meeting on Saturday instead of Sunday feelling it was the mistake that kept Jesus from returning
The most essential sabbath is the rest is resting by faith in the cross of Jesus by faith as described in the book of Hebrews and it is neither Saturday or Sunday but a saving faith which typified an dultimate Sabbath
in point of fact, meeting on Saturday or Sunday is not an essential, but Jesus said He was Lord of the Sabbath
and there is good reason to meet on Sunday
- Jesus was seen first ressurected on Sunday
- Jesus was seen a week later on Sunday
- Pentacost was on Sunday
- Paul said to collect offering on every Sunday
- Euticus feell out of the window as Paul preached on Sunday
- revelation was given on Sunday
It is remarkable the things occuring on Sunday from the resurection witnessings, to the coming of the Holy Spirit and to the last book of the Bible given, so through the ages Christians have favored Sunday to meet normatively
Jesus himself said as far as the Sabbath, He was the Boss !!! He is the Lord of the Sabbath !!! and it would be no surprize if He chose to celebrete the original creation on the Saturday Sabbath and the re-Creation through His resurection on The Lords Day, Sunday
It's not an essential either way, but the case for saturday sabbath for Christians is overstates and oversimplified in my mind too often and one needs to be careful not to substitute legalism for grace no matter which position one takes

They apply much of the Jewish Old Testament law. The law which was set aside at Jesus' death.
Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.

They are a "legalistic Christian" church that has gone astray from the true teachings contained in the Bible on several key issues. This started when a false prophetess named Ellen G. White introduced her own brand of doctrine. There's a whole website devoted to comparing where here teachings deviate from what the Bible says. http://www.ellenwhite.org/
