When you say 'mixed breed cat', do you mean - for example - a cross between say, a Persian and a Siamese? Perhaps you mean what we in the UK call a Short Haired or Long Haired Domestic? That is, an ordinary house cat.

All cats have a soul, so by getting a pedigree cat, you are not getting a superior cat. If you don't have any animals at the moment, why don't you do a wonderful thing, and give a home to an adult cat from your local Animal Refuge, especially one that's been in there a long time and no one else will have?

Go on, be a real hero.

Actually, mixed breeds tend to have a more varied genetic makeup, and thus tend to be healthier than so called "purebreds." And some kind of purebred might very well have pronounced quirks peculiar to the breed that you might not agree with: overly finicky, too aloof, too easily spooked, etc.

Actually, the rage here in the US is to mix specific dog breeds:

In the end, a cat is a cat. How they behave is most often how they are raised. You like cats? Resuce a kitten from a pound and be happy.

All the cats that I've had have been mixed breed cats, and they have been wonderful. Also, so many mixed breed cats need homes. As for pure-breed cats, there can sometimes be genetic problems. Persians are extremely cute, but with their pushed in faces/noses, they do have respiratory problems. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a mixed breed cat and I have heard that their personalities and temperament are better than pure-breed cats.

Are you talking about domestic short and long hair cats? Unless specifically bred for a certain breed, that is what the majority of cats are. There are no special precautions that you need to take no matter what kind of cat you get. They all need to go to the vet, have fecal checks, have them tested for leukemia and FIV and get vaccinated. Just because a cat is a pure bred doesn't make it any healthier than any other cat.

Yes, all of my cats are mixed and they are wonderful, but for the record, most all cats are mixed anyway, those cats that you think are purebreeds, they normally have something else in there. You would not want a purebreed anyway because they are more prone to illness and infections. You are much better off with a mixed breed.

No, you don't have to do anything special except feed it and maybe give it flea treatment or tick stuff like that, THAT you would do for any cat. Cats are loving and friendly as a rule. This is with the exception of like a Siamese. Sometimes they are known to turn on people. But other than that go get it and have a great time with it.

Honestly any cat will be a good pet. I own three cats, two of then are nice breeds (siames and bombay), they are lovely and they try to stay as much time with you as you allowed them. In the other hand the other is a non pedigree cat, he isn't as lovely as the others but sometimes he needs love too/
Any cat will be ok, just look for one that fit your needs.

I don't know what you mean by mixed cats. Mine is a throughly bred North American Short Hair. I hope you read that carefully. This cat thinks he is a dog. He loves big bones. He follows me around outside. He chases small dogs. He even sneaks up and attacks them. Time out, he is pestering me now.

They are great pets, and you will have a HUGE selection from any shelter that you choose. Treat your mixed breed as if she was a thoroughbred and she will be a companion for life.

they amke great pets. Pure bred cats for some reason seem to be.... snobbish. Mixed breeeds have more fun and are very affectionate
