Why can't tv manufacturers make televisions with the same dot pitch and resolution as computer screens?

Sets are made in 1920x1080 resolution, which is better than a lot of computer screens. There is no need for a set maker to make a higher resolution screen, since that is the highest resolution used for HDTV.

They can, but wouldn't sell very many since they would cost more than twice as much as current models.
