I think it's sexy, but I'm probably in the minority. Van Dyke's are sexy too, but again I'm in the minority. Lately I've seen quite a few men sporting the soul patch. Now that's pretty damn sexy. That is by far my favorite.
If you look in history, most cultures associate facial hair with virility and wisdom.

I think they're yucky! But beards don't gross me out - maybe I'm partial b/c my bf has one. I think goatees look like they're trying too hard (if a man grows hair on his chin, he probably grows it on his cheeks also!)
I think they're too recent to be "retro." Maybe in 10 years, or when the mullet comes back in style, whichever comes first. ;)

Are you jealous that you CAN'T grow one? I have a van dyke, I have had go-t's and have always had a mustache. I have had on occasion a full beard. My present is the van dyke. I consider myself as ugly But I also have no problem with women as well as any complaints on my facial hair.
