Crimes don't disappear unless dismissed, and then they can still show up in a Judicial Check, but most employers aren't going to care about a "disorderly conduct" charge from 5 years ago.

It really depends on what type of background check is being performed.
They may just be checking your driving record for insurance purposes, in that case they usually only go back 5 years.
If a criminal check is being performed, there is no limit in time. If the charge was a misdemenor, then it likely will be ignored.

well a background for the f.b.i. like if you are trying to go to the service, will always be there, and some jobs require that check...unless you get that charge exponged you will always be able to see that on your record. you are still there because yes your charge was a class b, i think misdemeanor. class c is like a speeding ticket, and that might be a class c....im not sure. get it exponged after 7 years if u can, but that is not serious at all....you are lucky my friend

Depends on who is doing the background check. If it is just the employer, he would be just checking your employment history. However if it is a school or government agency, they would check more throughly. Your record would stay with you more quite some time. It would have been best to reveal this information during your employment interview. That way there would be no surprises.

Some companies go back 10 years, some 5 years and some don't care. If you were applying to the Government for a position that requires a clearance, they like to go back to when you were a Zygote.

more than likely the people who did the background check most likely have been arested for the same type of crimes so who are they to judge you thats why you are still there.your records stay with you for life ,but then again bill gates was arested before and nobody knows what he was charged with all they have is his jail photo.
