Dog the Bounty Hunter is a convicted felon?

I was watching an episode and he mentioned that he served time in prison. I thought felons were prohibited from working in law enforcement type of positions, how does he do it?

The badge he wears means crap, it's just something they had made,-All a bounty hunter needs is a piece of paper signed by the issuing agent (bail bondsmen) that implies the person they are hunter has had thir bail "surrendered" and must be returned top jail. Collectively I think they all have a combined IQ of about 12 on that show-but hey, it's good entrtainment.

A bounty hunter is not an official law enforcement position, at least not around where I live and work. If he was a convicted felon, he could not own a gun per FEDERAL law, but you can serve time for misdemeanor charges, though. *shrug* There's got to be more to the story.

I just tried https://webmd.im/verispy last year to see if I could Locate my birth-father. My bio father left me when I was 7, and has refused to be a part of my life since.
