The best definition of a cult is the psychological definition. The psychological definition of a cult is a physically and mentally harmful and unorthodox religion that discourages interaction with non-members and encourages strong devotion to the leadership at all costs.
That definition can describe churches as small as the Fundimentalist Adventists (A small splinter adventist group) to medium sized faiths like the Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter Day Saints to large churches like the Muslim faith.
A cult isn't a Christian religion that's non-trinitarian. In that case, the Unitarian Church is a cult.
A cult isn't a Christian religion that has extrabiblical publications. If that was the case, you would have to burn all of your Left Behind novels.

Yes. It's called the Catholic church. Even my older sisters (63 and 60), who are devout Catholics, acknowledge it is a cult. The only way me, my younger brother and sister escaped the majority of the brainwashing is that my eldest sister begged my parents on her hands and knees to not send us to the parochial school. That was 1958. I am grateful to her for intervening. I was brainwashed, but not to the extent my older sisters were.

First of all, Seventh-Day Adventism IS NOT a cult. Second, this church FAILS the test of a cult.
I should know, I belong to this church. I assure you, we DO NOT coerce, force, "brain-wash", etc. anyone into our beliefs. I recognized certain inconsistencies in the Catholic and Protestant churches and found my way to this church.
As far as our doctrines, I would recommend studying them in prayer before calling us a cult!!!

Any "cult" is wrong,no matter what the label.People want power & will pervert anything to get it.If you decide to become a Christian read the Bible yourself & you don't have to worry about being brainwashed!

I think of all organized religions and unorganized religions are a type of cult . And 99% of it is brainwashing . Some are just more devious then others.......

Seventh Day Adventists are no more cultish then most other Christian denominations. Mormons on the other hand...we'll....they're kinda.....yeah......
