"Putting it in Gods hands" is an excuse not to deal with your problems. Praying is different though. It has been proven that prayer helps. So I say go for it, but don't let it be the only thing you do about your problems.

You need to do reseach before you ask these question.
There have been well documented studies (By Doctors) that people who pray do getter better and have a more peaceful attitude than those who do not.
NTISTS STUDY POWER OF PRAYER
ON HEALTH
Three separate research teams are investigating what impact prayer has on sickness. Seven hundred patients are taking part in a study at the Duke Clinical Research Institute that follows up on a 1999 inquiry that found heart patients reporting improved health after receiving prayer. The more detailed follow-up research will ask people whether they believe they are being prayed for, even if they are not, to see if positive thinking has any effect, said "The Washington Post."
The National Institutes of Health is funding a four-year study of intercessory prayer at Johns Hopkins University. There 80 women with breast cancer will be split into two groups, one joining in prayer activities and the other not. "We're not testing [to determine] if a divine power exists," said Diane Becker. "The study will show whether meditative prayer can help us improve our capacity to heal ourselves."
The Mind-Body Medical Institute, a nonprofit research institution, is also conducting a study on intercessory prayer, which will involve five medical centers across the country. However Adriane Fugh-Berman, assistant clinical professor of health care science at George Washington University of Medicine, told the "Post" that trying to scientifically determine prayer's effect on health was almost impossible. "Prayer studies are interesting, but from a public health point of view they are not the best place to put our dollars."

If I'm understanding what your saying you think that since medicines are the things that save us why does prayer matter to that sort of level?
Well medicine only helps because we have knowledge, in Genisis when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge everyone years after have knowledge and have the brains now to actually try to make things that keep people alive, or immortal.
But the point im making is that we were disobiedient by eating from the tree of knowledge cause with knowledge comes power and maybe I dont know god didnt want people to have power but for them to just be equals.
But prayer to me is a spiritual moment when you can talk to god as if you're talking to yourself. Prayer helps but sometime it doesnt, if it is your time to die then you'll die, if its not god will help you through along with medicines to survive.
So to me medicine is just a support to what god really has to decide over.

Does prayer work? Hundreds of millions prayed for God to stop Hitler, but God did nothing and 30 million+ died. Either God is heartless, powerless, both, or does not exist at all.

The moment you are able to find out what is Your Own True Address, you will know the Address simultenuously. You are conscious of your physical body and all its activities and conditions, of your mind -happy, unhappy, lazy, etc.etc. -, of your own intellectual capacity and of course you are able to perceive the objects of your five organs of knowledge; thus aware/awaken to the perceived world in waking state, aware of your dreaming state as also you are aware of your sound sleep the last night. Thus, YOU are the subject and your body mind and intellect and the worldly things all are objects only. In fact you continue to live by sleeping, dreaming and waking to the worldly objects and therefore you know not exactly What Your Pure Self. Hindu Scriptures logically explain that your own pure real Self is what is otherwise pointed to as the BRAHMA, the ultimate reality. Ignorants believe that there is a heaven and there the God is existing etc. Naturally I would want to know prior to heaven where he was residing?

Simply Put, God Helps them who helps themselves. Work with God. He helps the Chemist, the scientist, the caregivers, practicing physicians, families, all who believe in him. Prayer is a way to ask for God's help and to converse with him. It is not a substitute for Motivation but a way to encourage thought provoking ideas and reach out for help in finding the answers ourselves.
It all depends on how one looks at it and if one believes in God's and his Will.

Have doctors and realist parted the sea. Have they rose from the dead, turned water to wine, fed 5,000 people with 5 fish and 2 loaves of bread, walked on water. No, and they certainly didn't make the world.

Like most God haters you have it all backward.. Prayer isn't the place we "get stuff". It's were we conform our will to God's. When we have the same will all prayers are answered..

absolutely. just sitting around waiting for "god" to magically solve your problems doesn't help anything, and in many cases makes things worse.
