Maybe an inner layer of clothing to protect firemen or any others who need protection from high or low temperatures? (Please research peltier chips before you answer).

I wonder if firemen can have ice or water suits, wouldn't steam be a problem. Could solar cells supply enough power fro the peltier chips?

Sorry for the spelling, could the outside of the suit be the heatsink and solar cells to provide a current to the chips? Any other ideas like this?

peltiers are energy hungry and they still have to reject heat to the ambient / draw energy from cold environments

It would require too much power to work. An ice based system would weigh less and be more effective.
