Just be yourself. You are not the only one, mind you, of starting in a new school and seeing people you really never seen before. There are others out there. Just do what you normally do when you were in the grade before. Once you be yourself, then there are going to be others out there who may like you-or may not like you- for who you are. so, I suggest you make sure you look nice for the first day, try not to act snobbish, and, just be yourself.
Good Luck!

Cool, I'm starting 9th grade at an all new school. I've always been to public but now i'm going to a privateone. Anyways public school are pretty fun but some of them have gangs so i wouldn' join one cause they might not let you out. At my old school there wasn't any that i know of so i guess not all schools have them?

Hang out with those kids who think like you do. Find out which kids are the best students and hang with them. It will make you a better student too. Hang with the others and they'll drag you down to their level and then, after high school, you can fight over the best place in the welfare line.
Study hard and win the "prize" ... a good job.

wow, all I can say is good luck! Public school is so much more different than private school! in public schools, you tend to be ignored, except when you are getting in trouble. private schools tend to care about each student as individuals, where in public, you're just one of hundreds. I loved being in private school so much more than in public school! and dont be suprised if you dont know the material presented to you in public school... the cirriculum is quite different between the public & private schools. Good luck though!

Don't try to be pushy, but be available to talk if people seem friendly.
You won't be the only new kid, so try not to stress too much.
Be pleasant, and ask people questions about themselves, or their school experience, or their likes in entertainment. Be willing to share your experiences and likes, but don't try to dominate the conversation.

Don't bother trying to be popular. The price is too high. Be kind to everyone, especially those who are low on the totem pole. One of my main regrets is that I changed myself to fit in. Be yourself.
