Colon cancer is more likely to metastize to the liver due to the close proximity of the colon and the liver. Most of the time cancer will metastize through the lymphatic system and the lymph system draining the colon is more likely to spread cancer to the liver than is the lymphatics draining the lungs. The lungs are also very close to the liver but are seperated by the diaphragm and the lymphatics in the lungs drain toward the heart.
