One idea is that the Bible was actually talking about tribes and not individual human beings. The descendents of a man can live in tribes easily that long. Then when the tribe broke up it "begat" the next tribe. Another idea is that the "year" was actually a lunar month. That would about fit what we would expect in the life of a man. Remember that the writing down of this history was hundreds of years after what actually took place and the writers didn't have any sense that they would be taken literally, just that they were giving a broad outline of what they think happened.

God decided that. Sin had not yet wrecked its havoc upon the human race. Sin got so bad God had to send the flood and start all over. He decided 900 years was just too long for man to live on this earth because He just sunk worse and worse in sin. God finally reduced the age to three score years and ten (70 years). That is about were we are today. When Jesus Christ comes back to this earth to set up His millinial reign, ruling from the throne of David in Jerusalem, He will rule the world in righteousness and men will again live hundreds of years.

God knows, maybe they had a closer relationship with God since they at that time knew him as their creator. The ones listed were direct descendants. You have to ask yourself why the authors listed all their ages at death, if it was a myth then what purpose did it serve?God made man in his image and I would think at those times he had a more personal touch in creation and less sin upon the world. The longer the man lived the more direct offspring he created, thus the purest bloodlines perhaps. Just a thought..You will notice as well at the Flood days, when the fallen angels interbred with women that God soon after caused the flood to reestablish his chosen.

We believe it was tied to the atmosphere. That flood came from under the earth as well as the sky, and for the first time after the flood men were able to see blue sky and the rainbow. As you know the rainbow is now a natural event caused by droplets of water and sunlight. Examine the bible closely in the book of Genesis and you will see that there was one land mass and one body of water. Because after the flood event we have the grand canyon and many other land distortions and separate continants.

Because early man was stupid and couldn't count right! So God had to go back to the drawing board and take his brain widget and do some adjusting. Once he got the brain right, they started counting right.

Also, back then they thought the Earth was 4.5 Billion years old but once again, after God made his adjustments, man knew that the Earth is Only 5348.567824938586 years old.

Well, if you decide to believe those things, you could say that people were closer to God, with greater fear for hime...Most certainly not stress-less or anything like that, considering that there was a technology-free era, and people were supposed to do a lot of phisycal work

The only place I've ever read about humans living for hundreds of years is in the bible. Do you know of any factual sources which can confirm this?

You must have a serious case of ignorance. I will be praying for you. If you are all powerful, just try to stop me. God can, but you can't.
