Take the pill and stick it down her throat. That way she can't spit it back out. Don't be a chicken just do it.

My puppy just had to take two back to back courses of antibiotics that were capsules, not the chewable kind. What worked for me was to (1) show her a special treat that she loves and didn't get any other time to get her mouth watering (in this case it was her vitamin supplement, but anything delicious like a hotdog will do), (2) open her mouth with both hands, (3) push the pill to the back of her tongue with my index finger, far enough back that she couldn't work it back out, (4) quickly massage her upper neck until she swallowed, and (5) praise her for swallowing and follow up with the special treat. After a few days of this, I had the technique down to a few seconds and she would swallow the pill right away because she knew the special treat was coming next. Believe it or not after a while she would actually come running to me when I brought out the pill bottle.

My dog is on medicine as well and she is very smart when it comes to spitting the pill out and eating the food! I started to get a chunk of a hot dog weenie and lodging the pill in the center and pushing the pill way inside it. Many dogs will not refuse a hot dog! lol Make sure its well hidden though or she will smell it and know. Also if your carrying the pill bottle or she sees you grab it, she will know to. Try to be sneaky about it that way she soon forgets what a pill even is! Don't let her see you do it. Good-luck I hope this helps! :)

There are many things that you can try one is stuffing it in a hot dog. If she does not like that take it and roll it in a piece of cheese (not generic though cause it will crumble in pieces.) If she does not like that then you put the pill in butter so it will slide down her throat. But you should just be able to put it in her mouth then hold her mouth shut and blow in her nose it will naturally make the dog swallow. Hope you find a way that works for you.
Good Luck!!!!

You can try grinding up the pill and mixing it in with peanut butter, and your dog will probably vacuum it right up! If you can get the vet to give her that medicine so it looks/tastes like a treat, that should work well too. If all else fails, hold her mouth even though you don't want to. If you don't apply too much pressure (just enough to keep her mouth shut) it should be all right and not hurt your dog.

you have to put it in the very very back as far as you can of her throat then close her mouth and hold it shut. she will eventually want to lick and she will swallow it. hold her mouth shut tightly. you may have to hold it more than a minute.
they have a pill shooter at the vet and it will shoot the pill to the back of the throat
For pills, store the pill in his treat jar. It will absorb the smell and your dog will beg for them
Some tablets can be crushed and put into food. Your vet can tell you if this is possible with the tablets supplied. There are special tablet crushers available to this purpose. If you have not got access to these, you can crush a tablet with the back of a spoon for instance. Check to see if the pill is supposed to be crushed before doing so. Some medications are not supposed to be crushed or broken.
what we did at the vet befor we gave meds was give him the treat before we put the pill in it. if they ate the treat first they will not think they are being tricked. then give it the treat with the pill in it. you may have to do this several times. before you put the pill in it
good luck

Just a pup? Well grind up the pill some, small little chunks, then, you start eating dinner, something they like, you know say a chop or something. Make yummy noises, and, then act mean when they start to beg at the table, then, put the ground up pill on the food (not yours) and say "you can have a treat too, but you have to eat at your dish" That way, they think it's about where to eat. Not about the pill! Good Luck. I hope your pup gets better! :)

Ok..if you don't mind putting your thumb in your dogs mouth, this is what you do..Open their mouth with one hand, put the pill on their tongue, while still holding their mouth open..push the pill over the upward curve of their tongue toward their throat opening, once you let go a dogs first reaction will be to stick their tongue out, this in turn will force the pill down their throat...!!!! Once you get the hang of this method you will have no problem. I used to have the same issue and that is what my vet said to do..

Putting the pill at the back of her mouth and massaging her throat won't hurt her -- it just forces her to swallow. We quarter pills and put them in little pieces of deli turkey for our dog as a first resort. The quartered size seems to be small enough that she can't get it separated and just eats it. If you're still having a problem, call your vet.

Have one person hold the dog. Open her mouth and with your fingers push the pill as far down her throat asyou can.
Close her mouth and hold head up or give her favorite treat like cut up hot dog or something she loves.
You are not going to hurt the dog but if you let her spit out the meds she will not get better.
You are going to have to make her take the meds.
Get tough.
Good luck.

Hi; I have a bichon and honestly I have been there too, ask your vet if you can smash the pill into a powder. Then sprinkle it into canned food like the new beneful it comes with a resealable lid and you will get two servings out of it because your puppy is so small. Mix it into the food. My dogs eat it up like crazy. Good Luck
