Do what I did, Let him/her name their self.
Sit in a room alone with the cat and let it play around and explore the area while you watch. Then start naming things in the room you see. Like Uno, Bingo, Drape, Fluff, etc....you can add ending to the words too, like Rugger, Pinky, socks, .
When the cat responds it has chosen its name. It s kinda fun and the cat gets to pick, Good luck and have fun if you decide to try this.

It really doesn't matter what you call a cat. He responds to the repetition of sounds that he recognizes when you call him. Carl Sandburg said that a cat has three names. One of these names is what he calls himself. That name you will never know.

It is easier to choose a name with two syllables or less. Easier for you, when you call him.

Mew mew kitty. From Mister Rodgers, or, you can call him Bob, or maybe that's already taken. How about Sparky, or, if he has spots, Stripe. I had a cat named Quatt, but, well, we were hippies so that might not be so good. How about, I still like Bob. Then you can say, "This is Bob, he's my Cat!" and I think that would be fun to say. Peace :)
