I hear ya!! I think they do it because they're learning so much about the world at that young an age, it's making their heads spin and the mouth is trying to keep up, even if they're blabbing about nonsense. The absolute worst though is when they interrupt or try to talk over the adult conversation to say something like, "Guess what? I can make a circle with my finger and my thumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The truth is that children have an instinctual need to exercise their speech and the sounds they produce. In addition they need to learn very many things about life and the world sorrounding them and that is why they have to interract with this world at a higher frequency.Seeing and hearing many things that they naturally don't understand makes them ask thousands of questions which for adults may seems silly and annoying. However,it is only the child's natural and healthy way of adapting quickly to his environment and ultimately, his way of NOT growing to be an idiot.

they are learning. they don't have deep thought processes, yet, because they haven't learned how. their brains can only process so much at one time.
they have to learn 1+1 before they can learn 10+10.
my old babysitter would take all 7 of my brothers and sisters along with a couple of neighbor boys camping and canoeing (down the mighty mississip) when she was 19 and her b.f. 21. that's right. 9 kids and 2 almost adults. we had the best times!thanks lynita

Children are sponges, they absorb so much, usually in no understandable pattern, so they need to consolidate what they are learning, and the best way is to use it, eg. say it. This is also why they seldom are still. Of course in a car they are restricted regarding movement, so all the excitement of learning about this wonderful crazy world goes into the talk-noise part of consolidation

Children are curious and they want to impress people that are new around them. That child probably liked you and was trying to get you to like them. I pray you weren't hateful. If you said the smallest thing about him/her being annoying then you are a sad person. Honey, children and adults are on much different levels while thinking. Do you realize you just compared yourself to a child? Maybe it's time for you to focus on yourself and mature a little. God Bless the child that had to endure that 2 hour ride with you.

Compared to you a kids brain is like a Ferrari compared to a bicycle.
They need to think fast and pay less attention to details because they still need to explore while you (hopefully) already have solid experience to go on from.

It's the effect of sugar found in many foods and drinks that makes them hyper. Take the sweet stuff away from the kids and they'll be normal again.

My first suggestion would be to call YOUR mother and ask her if you were ever like that. I think more than likely you probably were. Its a natural thing for kids that age to talk alot.
