Most likely it is a bad pump or pump seal. It may be a clogged filter, but that is not likely.

There is a chance that the radiator is clogged. Pull the cooling lines (but them in a bucket or expect a mess) and start the car, to see if the fluid is pumping.

If it is a bad pump, it is best to rebuild the transmission.

A transmission will get hot from lack of oil circulation. You may have a bad oil pump in your transmission and you had better get it checked out real soon or you will be replacing the transmission.

If it doesn't circulate, the pump is no good, but the transmission won't pull without the pump. If it pulls the cooler lines may be blocked of kinked.

in front of the radiator is a trans cooler it looks like another small radiator it will get clogged up take the lines off and take a air compressor and blow the lines and cooler out

sound like the pump went out inside the transmission

May be time to change that filter.. (inside trans pan)..

i would say that you have a leak some where. either that or your tranny is slipping and parts (or the whole thing) need to be replaced and that can get expensive!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK
