It depends on what shift you're working, where (city) you're working, what facility (state or private) you're working at, and how well you've done on your reviews. Otherwise , that's pretty good. I know some LVNs that don't make that much and they are much more important than a phlebotomist. You should be making from $7-$12 an hour.

I'm a Nationally Certified Phlebotomist. When I worked in Dallas I made $14 hour, I moved last year to be in a smaller town/area and improve my children's lives, I now work for a small hospital and get paid $8 hourly I have an Associates Degree as a MLT. I am totally getting screwed in the wage department. The person who commented that "phlebotomist were unskilled laborers" doesn't realize 1. the extensive training it takes to do this job and 2. how many times a day we risk our own health in participating in the diagnosis's of others. I'm considering relocating back to a larger metropolitan area so that I can be appreciated for the SKILLS that I EARNED through my Educational pursuits in Medical Lab.

No way... that's a lot for just a phlebotomist. You're not even an actual tech performing all the tests. It does not take a lot of extensive training to do this job. An easy certification that can be obtained in 6 months. You are getting paid pretty well, and you should be happy.

I'm a lab tech as well, here in Texas the pay is real shitty!!! 8-12 dollars.
When I lived in Mo I could make anywhere between 15-18 dollars an hr....it depends on location for sure.

Search the job postings at your job for salary info. Also, you can go to different hospital websites and check out their postings. I think you are doing pretty good monitarily as a phlebotomist, but you have probobly maxed out.

To the guy who calls your profession unskilled labor... would you rather have a chimp do it? I like the idea of seeing a professional who is compensated properly and happy with their job when I have blood drawn or receive an IV. Ask yourself, am I happy with what I make, can I live comfortably? That's really the most important thing.

You make what?! I am actually bored at work (Emergency Room in So Utah, as a phlebotomist). I make $10.32/hour and that's after three years worth of raises. Where do you live to make that?...I'm moving...
