It's not clear from the Bible if it is or isn't. What IS clear is when Jesus told us "anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28).
Perhaps it is okay if you don't have lust in your heart. I really don't know.

I think he spelt it like that so when people research the topic it won't come back to this post.
I know there is a story in the bible when someone is having sex and rather than making the seed(sperm) into into the vagina he takes it out and makes it spill onto the floor in which God cursed the person.
If that is the case then it's wrong as I cannot question God. If's it's no in relation to that then I would say masturbating is better than raping someone.

Of course not! The ordinary healthy male has to every few days. It's a lot better spiritually than screwing around.
You won't find any reference to masturbating in the Bible or Koran and not as far as I know in the Vedas either, so relax and enjoy it! Mind you, the more creative you are in really useful ways, or the more meditative, the less you will feel the urge.

Rogue apparently is not a Christian. It's not a sin. Every body who answered this masterbates. EVERYONE of them. And how do they control their thoughts while doing it? None of them do. No more than when they have sex. They are just all liars. Now THAT is a sin. But it's just not something people throw up on the freakin public internet for crying out loud!

Does it bring you joy and happiness? if yes then it's ok
Does it effect others negatively? if no then it's ok
The purpose of life is to live an ethical life, honoring ourselves, bringing joy and happiness to ourselves and others and most importantly not effecting other peoples free will.
Whatever we do that falls within the above guidelines is operating within the divine law!

I like the way a friend of mine put it once:
If you are doing it because you do not want to have to deal with your wife, then it is probably a sin.
If you are doing it because you want to relive the moment again, then probably not.
hope that helps.

not if you can spell it correctly.... LOL (the correctly spelling is masturbating.)
According to Catholocism and Christianity, yes. However, personally I feel that it is a natural and healthy thing to do.
Only you can decide whether or not you feel it is right or wrong.

I don't care what religious texts say. It's a normal healthy activity. and it's spelled with a 'turb' not a 'derb"
