About 2 weeks ago I brought a stray puppy home , she has a croped tail and ears , so I figured she was in pretty good health but every since I brought her home my other dog has gotten sick , hes had diarhea for a week now and yesterday I found a pile of blood , smelled horrible . Im not sure which dog it came from so when I walk them I check thier poop , but no signs of blood . I dont have money for a vet so Im confused on what to do . any suggestions would be helpful .

It could be many things. I would be most worried about parvo, they have bloody loose stools and it can be deadly. There are also other parasites that could have caused it. Kudos on taking in a stray puppy, but dont assume that it is healthy, you prolly just got your other dog sick beacause of it too. I would keep them seperated until u save the money to take them to the vet or see if your local humane society can help, they often help with people in need with low income.

a kind gesture to bring the stray home but it could be the start of trouble. You said the stray was a female. The pile of blood on the floor could be her going through her eustres cycle. In other words, she might be in heat. No guarentee without knowing if she is already spayed. If you have a male dog, that isn't neutered, I'd keep them away from eachother unless you want the STRONG possibility of a litter of pups not too long from now. Also, since she is a stray, you do not know what shots/ vaccines she has or hasn't had. It is possible that she has parvo and possibly pass it on to your other dog. Blood in stool is one symptom that a dog may have parvo but it can also mean they have some type of worms. I understand that the Vets cost money, but you must see a vet sometime within the next couple of day or at most 2 weeks. Parvo is a disease that can be passed on to humans from dogs. Get a loan or borrow from parents or friends, but it is important for you to KNOW not think a dog is healthy and has had its vaccinations.

Sounds like worms (hookworms can do this) or Parvo. Better get a vet - you can treat hokworms with a dewormer that lists them on the label, or give the dog some Ivermectin - not approved for dogs but many breeders use it - don;t give much at a time. Parvo- death sentence unless you get a vet.

The bloody diarrhea sounds like parvo. Sorry - hope I'm wrong.

I know you don't have money for a vet. Your city/community may have a helpline where they can give you a phone number for animal specialists...practitioners who don't charge as much as a vet. The phone number should be in your phone book under the blue pages (government)...maybe even animal control has a number for a practitioner. I would DEFINITELY have both of the dogs checked out. It sounds like perhaps they contacted a parasitic worm or other creature that may have temporarily caused blood in the stool(s). Good luck!

Bloody diarrhea that smells bad is always a bad sign - eating rat poison or getting parvo or another virus is the most common cause. Take the sick pup to the vet immediately and watch the others closely for signs that they have it too. Make sure they are all up to date on their vaccinations!

Take them to the vet. Many vets will work out a payment plan for situations like this. Call around or talk to your local animal shelter or humane society for vet references.

i would call the vet and see if they can give you any idea what it could be, my guess is even though the puppy looks healthy, he may have something very wrong with him and your other dog has caught it, you must being them both to the vet because that sounds like it could be somthing very serious.

She had her period. To get this to stop you need to get her spayed. Though that will only cause her to not bleed. She will still give off a smell at that time......I didn't read your question all the way. But just take them to the vet.

the pup you found could have parvo and that is deadly and very catchy. are they acting droopy or sick.? if it was just a "heat blood spot" it would have been tiny. i have great danes and their period bleeding falls in dime size spots .not a glob. your dogs need to be vetted.
