My son had it and he was able to manage it without meds......

The only thing I can suggest and what helped him, is that you try to have as much structure in your life as possible. That means being disciple and that is not easy with someone with ADD. Follow a routine everyday and stick to it.

Also, exercising is great with people that have ADD/ADHD. It releases a lot of physical energy and frees the mind to better focus.....Not to mention the positive results exercise can give you health wise...

Their is no easy solution, but with a little effort, you can go a long way.....You hold the keys, to manage this condition....Good luck!

There is an alternative to meds, even if not yet scientifically renowned:

Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of your body and mind is simply amazing - own experience. :-)

And it's really worth travelling far - at present, the treatment is available in California and Europe, costing around 200 Dollars. Good luck!

According to the reading I have done regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), the brain, when it senses that blood sugar is low, will do sometimes strange things to get the blood sugar (glucose) out of storage and into the blood stream. ADD/ADHD may be one way the brain uses to accomplish this.

Eating a diet that stresses protein (poultry and fish are best, unless you are a vegetarian and then soy is very good), low glycemic carbohydrates (look up a glycemic index) and good fat (olive oil for cooking, almonds or peanuts for snacking), may ease your symptoms. Snacking (with these same foods) between meals is very important and helps.

Ask your doctor for a fasting insulin blood test . Ask for a copy of your results. 10 or higher is abnormal for an adult. You have to have high insulin to have low blood sugar.

Chronic low blood sugar can also cause self-esteem problems, anger management problems and a whole bunch of other physical and mental nasties. You may want to check out the symptoms link on www.hufa.org, and see how you check out.

My daughter has ADHD and in addition to medicine, I take her to counseling. Just so she won't feel so out of place, I guess. It's done her a lot of good though. You could try that. Or it could just be you're either on the wrong dose or you're taking a medicine that just isn't compatible with your body chemistry. That's why there are several of these types of medications on the market. Just be careful and research the medicine before allowing your doctor to prescribe it to you.

yah. my dad, sis, and older bro all have ADD. my little bro has ADHD. my older bro with ADD also has OCD and suffers with depression from over use with marojana. my sis and i have both soffered from really out-of-control tics (habits, not the bug). my mom is the only sane person in my family......my only advise. face yourself and fight against the illness on your own with a little bit of therapy in the middle.
