Hello,
1. Music Helps..Get a CD of music that makes you happy, lifts your spirits, etc. It doesnt have to be gospel music, but it can be anything from Jessica Simpson to Sade. Just listen to something that will take your mind off whats bothering you. Dont listen to any sad music-at all. If it comes on the radio---turn.
2. Call a friend: Your friends are there to help you out. Vent to them all your fustrations. But also, listen to what is going on in their lives, and that will get your mind off your problems. Help them solve some of their problems too.
3. Help someone: Is there someone you know who needs help? Helping others boosts your mood when youre in difficult times. Does your grandma need you to cut the lawn? Do you know any people who could use your old clothes? Help people. Volunteer at a local after school program or something..Be a blessing to someone--To give is to Recieve.
4. Remember that you are Not alone. Every human being has been through difficult times. Abraham Lincoln lost his mother at age 5, and his first wife died, and his son died...Oprah Winfrey was raped as a child...Martha Stewart spent 5 months in jail
..But you know what they all have in common?? They all are sucessful! They all knew that their problems were Temporary-and that happiness and opportunity would come Tommorow. Remember,
"The sun will come out, Tomorrow--
but you gotta hang on till Tomorrow--come what may!
Tomorrow, Tomorrow.
I love you! Tomorrow--Youre only a Day away!"
5. Be Grateful. Look, it could be worse. Count your Blessings. Look at the news. There people losing their mothers, fathers, brothers and sister right now in the Middle East..There are people crying from hunger in Africa, people living with AIDS, people losing their arms and legs from diseases. Right now, you have more than most people..Stop thinking about whats bad-think about all the wonderful, great things that have happened to you. Be grateful, it WILL get better, but you gotta believe it will.
Last, Pray, Pray, Pray--Talk to God like you would talk to a Best Friend. Ask Him for Help and Guidance. Things take Time. Problems arent solved like magic in one day. Be Pateint, know He is Listening, and Know that the answer, and Help, will come.
Hope this helps.
Peace

After wiping out large quantities of ice cream, I stop and determine what I can do to make a change in the situation. I am not one to sit around and let things happen to me. I want some control and movement that I've initiated. There is nothing more frustrating than waiting for someone/something else to initiate things. Guaranteed, sometimes there isn't much I can do, but I do something. It makes ALL the difference.

I close my door to my "space", turn on my music of choice for the mood...The Doors if I'm angry or really sad, something uplifting and spiritual, like Cynthia Clawson, if I'm wanting to really get into a heavy conversation with Christ, I cry sometimes, talk to Jesus, then quietly meditate, read something inspirational until I'm ready to face the world again. Orrrrrr...sometimes I just crank some music, roll down the windows on my car, take a drive out into the country and cry, talk out loud, scream, whatever I feel the need to do at the time.

I just keep moving forward. Keeping busy. Trying to do the right things. Some things will never go away unless you deal with them. So it's best to handle them as soon as possible. Because the longer you wait, things have a tendency to get worse. There are some things that for whatever reason, will not turn out the way you want them to. You have to learn to except them and move on.

rescue remedy.
it's a herbal tincture that really calms a body down. You put it on your tongue or in a drink. give it a few, and you can feel your body relax.
whether it's psychological or not, it works for me!
other than that, i meditate. depending on what the situation is..
if i am confused, i write because there's been so many times where i didnt know what was wrong or how to say it, that when im writing, it just kinda comes out.. and i learn from it.

Meditation. Music. Art. Writing. Painting. Helping others. Eating candies. Reading a good book, or talking with a friend.
Each of us has his own methods that work for us but maybe not for the rest. You must look for your own.

Time to myself - relaxing by putting all problems in back of my mind - reminding myself that in time things will fall into place - Life is full of problems, most of which will work themselves out, without your intervention. You can only control so much. Sleep helps, so do buffets. Time heels all wounds.
I've solved every problem in my life without belief in higher powers that I have no evidence of - atheist

Two things work for me;
1) Prayer to get it off my chest, explain my problem/position to God and solicit His input.
2) Music. Music helps me find the place I need to get to to recharge and renew.
I combine these two techniques whenever possible.
